- We enjoyed our visit to this park as it was not over crowded and we got onto most rides without too much wait time. This park is nicely spread out and has a second entrance which we used to have Breakfast at Disney Grand California Hotel by the Pool. On our last day, we had Breakfast inside the park but its best to use the app to get into the que - we're not sure if it works accurately, but missed out in Disneyland Park due to not knowing we needed to use an app to book in for Breakfast in advance. We do not recommend wasting money on the early morning pass unless you simply want to que early, but its no longer the magical 1 hour pass before the park opens.Visited August 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten September 21, 2024
- Mark MNewcastle-under-Lyme, United KingdomWhat a place this is. The main draw for this was Cars Land for our Lightening McQueen obsessed 3 year old and the look of amazement as we walked into real life Radiator Springs was worth every penny. The place is amazing, so well done, well themed and clean and tidy. If you can I thoroughly recommend sticking around for when the light fades to see all the neon lit up, even the adults were amazed by it! Going back a topic I was impressed by how well the traffic coming to the park was controlled and parked. It flowed well once through the ticket barriers (which we prepaid for - I'd recommend you do this too!) We explored the rest of the park, my 8 year loved the Incredacoaster, said its one of the best he's ever been on! We had some dinner in Flo's Cafe and although well themed the food wasn't great especially for the price we paid for it. A word of warning, the Ferris wheel, do not go on the sliding cars if you have a weak stomach, even I underestimated how well I'd deal with that 🤢 It's a great day out and because we did Disney just across from it the same day meaning that we were on the site for over 12 hours and our smart watches clocked over 25k steps altogether so comfy shoes are a must!Visited June 2024Traveled with familyWritten June 29, 2024
- art-scubaLos Altos, CaliforniaThis place is perfect for a days trip. We parked at Mickey and friends and Pixar lot and took the tram. It was great experience with a teenager and we ended up with the color of one show which scored a perfect 10 from our family. It was dancing fountains with Disney characters like Moana, coco, and avengers projected on it. Adventure land Incredicoaster - 9 Soarin - 9.5 Grissly peak - 8 Toy mania - 6 Swing symphony - 6 Jelly fish - 2 Goofy sky school - 6 but bad back folks avoid with sharp turns Critter carousel - 2 Avenger spider web- 6 bad sensor for corner folks (2 and 3 work) and hurt the arms Cars radiator springs - single rider is a quick way to avoid the crazy queue - 8 Japan town udon was good for lunch and they also had a good Mexican corn place. Color of one show was perfect- 10. You can book the virtual queue tickets to see it close by or stand in the Pixar place bridge 30 mins before the show. Guardians of the galaxy was very crowded and we could not go. It went from 65 mins in the morning to 145 mins wait at night. It does not honor lightning passVisited August 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 11, 2024
- Hollie ETelford, United KingdomWe had a full day at Disney California Adventure Park in September 2023 and it was absolutely amazing. We did pretty much everything we'd hoped to do and met so many characters! Our favourites were in the Marvel section, we were pleased that we got to meet Loki (and he barely had a queue) but we also had a great interaction with Dr Strange who did a 'magic trick' for us. All the staff were so lovely, the guy who told me I was covered in 'Pooh' (was wearing a lot of Winnie merch) had me and my friends in stitches whenever we remembered it for the rest of the day. I got frustrated trying to book a table at a particular restaurant on the app because it wanted an American phone number so eventually asked a cast member for help, they sorted it within seconds. We got on all the rides we wanted to - I would hit the Marvel rides first thing in the morning, we walked straight onto the Spider-Man Web Slingers ride which was so much fun. One of the photographers took professional photos of us in front of the Ferris Wheel, he was so lovely and had all the time in the world for us to get some amazing pictures. He had great pose suggestions and one of them is literally my favourite photo of me and my friends ever. Cannot recommend this enough, I just wish we'd had the opportunity to come to the Halloween evening event! But our day was absolutely perfect, thank you Disney!!Visited September 2023Traveled with friendsWritten June 26, 2024
- EdwelshNorth Canton, OhioWe arrived early walking in from our hotel at Grand Californian. We were able to see many attractions, had a nice lunch, hopped over to Disneyland, then came back for more fun. All of the different Sections have their own appeal. We just loved Cars Land with Radiator Springs Racers, the theming is unmatched. Avengers Campus is great as well, Web Slingers is very well down and tons of fun. Pixar Pier was a fun place to hang out, we love Toy Story Mania and had a wonderful lunch at Lamplight Lounge. San Fransokyo Square is a whimsical but functional place to walk through and find a bite to eat. Pixar Fest was going on while we were there, we enjoyed the Pixar themed parade and characters around the grounds. We can’t say enough about the cast members, they made my wife’s birthday so very special! The crowds were very thin in the morning, started to get crowded when we left after lunch, then was smaller when we came back late. The close vicinity to Disneyland, Downtown Disney and the Disney Hotels was a huge plus. But having all this stuff in such a condensed area, means an awful lot of people in a small space.Visited May 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten May 9, 2024
- KJSouthampton, United KingdomOctober was my first every visit to Disney’s California Adventure. I really liked this park with all themed lands and areas. There are lots of attractions which are enjoyable especially in Cars Land! Both Cars Land and Pixar Pier I found to be some of the most immersive areas! Also in Disney’s California Adventure, I attended the Oogie Boogie Bash which I really enjoyed! It was great to trick or treat around the park, meet exclusive characters and get spooky! I highly encourage people to attend the Oogie Boogie Bash especially if they love Halloween! I definitely enjoyed the park days I spent in Disney’s California Adventure park and I look forward to returning again in the future! I highly recommend that everyone that visits Disneyland also visits this park because it is iconic and exclusive to California!Visited October 2024Traveled with familyWritten December 7, 2024
- Vacation_CommanderMuncie, IndianaI'm not sure where to start. This was our first-ever trip to Disneyland in California. The way the schedule worked out, we went to California Adventure first. The theme designs of each land were great, but none more so than Cars Land. It really gave you a vibe of walking through Radiator Springs. Avengers Campus was neat and I'm glad to hear that it's expanding. Both Spiderman and Mission: Breakout were phenomenal. We also went during Pixar Fest, so we got to try a lot of good food and meet some Pixar characters that we've never met before. The two biggest surprises for us were the Incredicoaster (which we ended up riding multiple times and the Ferris wheel. I had no clue that some of the gondolas moved around on a track as the Ferris wheel also turned! We were able to easily ride and do everything in this park in one day which was also nice. This was in large part to the single-rider line at Radiator Springs Racers which we rode twice and only had to wait a fraction of the time.Visited July 2024Traveled with familyWritten September 4, 2024
- Dennis CoNorth Brunswick, New JerseyDisneyland California Adventure was a neat visit as part of our west coast/Disneyland California vacation. It definitely has its own uniqueness and identity, especially when it comes to showcasing some of the California branding. You can feel free to see my review on Disneyland Park for our background information for some background information, so I'll primarily focus on the perks of Disneyland California Adventure. Having children that are 6 and 3 years of age, respectively, I feel that Disneyland California Adventure was more catered to older children and the adult crowd. My kids still enjoyed the park, but I feel like they had more fun at the Disneyland Park. We cruised through the park (rode on Monsters Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue!, Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: BREAKOUT!, Pixar Pal-a-Round, Jessie's Critter Carousel, Silly Symphony Swings; did a character meet and greet with Anna and Elsa's Royal Welcome at the Animation Academy ate churros at Cozy Cone Motel; took photos at Buena Vista Street and Cars Land; walked through San Fransokyo Square and Pixar Pier; ate at Aunt Cass Cafe (Boudin's bread bowls); saw Baymax, Meilin Lee, Judy Hopps, Antman, Mater, and Lightening McQueen; watched Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration! parade. San Fransokyo Square was incredibly neat and a nice touch to the California branding. The torii design of the Golden Gate bridge was cool while the Port of San Fransokyo sign gave Fisherman's Wharf vibes. The Boudin's Bakery walk through had a lot of cool information, and we were able to get the sweet taste of the Boudin's famous sourdough at the Aunt Cass Cafe. The Pixar Pier reminded me of Santa Cruz which transitioned well from San Fransokyo Square. All the rides that we went on (less Guardians of the Galaxy) were nice and chill. Overall, a nice park that highlights some of California's uniqueness and culture.Visited July 2024Traveled with familyWritten July 19, 2024
- ClaireleecherrySFEBOakland, California1 day is more than enough to enjoy DCA. You could even do a half day. We went from 2 PM to 11 PM and used Lightening Lanes and Single Riders. Lots of places to sit, enjoy snacks and soak in the atmosphere. World of Color is absolutely amazing. It is the best show at the park. We didn’t do all of the rides and Lightening Lanes can run out by mid-afternoon. If you go at rope drop or do early entry, you might want a park hopper so that you can jump over to DL or go back to your hotel to rest.Visited November 2024Traveled with familyWritten November 28, 2024
- Is there anything else I can add that you may not already know about DCA? I would like to advise readers to check the Disneyland/Disney California Adventure calendar before booking tickets. The week of the 13th this year was Grad Night every night, and even though you paid to stay until 10 pm, you won't be able to as the park closes at 9 pm to all guests except for Grads! You might think "No big deal," but if you've been to Disneyland or DCA, you'll know that a lot can be accomplished in an hour!Visited May 2024Traveled with familyWritten May 22, 2024

The park in itself was nice enough. The reason for 2 stars, was the constant ride break downs. Waiting in Guardians for an hour only for it to break down and then increase the waiting to 3 hours is not exactly good when you pay the prices Disney charges.
Other rides constantly broke down as well which was super frustrating.
The theming was nice, and we had a good time at Pixar Pier, but other than that we weren't able to explore the rest of the park due to the breakdowns.
Super disappointed in Disney for that

I visited this park Thanksgiving week 2023 with my husband and 6 year old son along with another family. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience. First, the park was so packed that it felt unsafe. I either carried my child or had them in the stroller to avoid him being shoved or stepped on. Secondly, the lines were so long (even with Genie+!) that we were only able to get through 1/3rd of the park and only did 4 rides. 3 out of the 4 rides were booked with Genie+, and you can only use it once per ride. My son cried because he could not ride his favorite ride again without standing in line for over an hour. The most disappointing ride was Cars. The woman at the front would not let us rejoin our party after taking our child to the bathroom, resulting in waiting in line for almost two hours. The ride broke down twice in the two hours, and you either suffer in line or pay $21 extra per person for Lightening Lane. How does Disney expect little children to stand in line for so long? The food was ok, but 90% of the time standing in line was much shorter than mobile orders. The wait times on rides is not accurate. Always add an extra 30 minutes. I really hope Disney changes their policies. They (especially the CEO) are making money hand over fist and are losing loyal customers (like me) by the droves. PLEASE lower the crowd capacity- - it is NOT safe and leaves people frustrated and angry. It leaves children crying because they can’t ride rides due to the wait times and parents wanting to cry because you either disappoint your child or out hundreds of extra dollars. Ride wait should be no longer than 20 minutes at maximum. I saw a cast member being screamed at by a disgruntled customer over ride wait time. I saw another customer in a cast member’s face over his wife being shoved in a crowd. Please bring back the Disney magic! The paid Instagram influencers aren’t fooling us any longer!

A very disappointing experience!
1. Quality of the rides, very poor and after waiting a very long time to get onto the rides they barely lasted a minute for most.
2. Friendliness, you would expect better customer service. Most staff we interacted with were not very friendly and didn't seem to care about their jobs.
3. Quality of food was very poor considering the prices you had to pay.
4. The ticket prices are absolutely insanely expensive. Paying $300+ for tickets into a park that was very poorly managed, low quality and simply not what was advertised is very disappointing. Not to mention no Milatery discounts either, really not good at all.
Overall very low rating, disappointing experience and not worth the money.

We’ve gone twice in the span of a month (second weekend of November and third weekend of December) and it is packed in these parks. If you are worried about crowds, you should NOT go to Disneyland. A good portion of people are wearing masks, but not everyone even though you are being asked to wear them anywhere indoors. The staff is fantastic and they are doing their best, but you can tell there are less staff than normal. In November we had park hoppers and in December we just did one park a day and because there are so few rides that we like in DCA, I prefer park hopper tickets and I’d do Genie+ for at least one day. I would highly recommend picking your must do (Web Slingers or Radiator Springs Racers) and get to the gates by 7:15am. You can get to the rope and be one of the first people on one of those rides, then just know you’re going to be waiting for awhile for the other ride later in the day. This is the park that you really need to get there in the morning and do as much as you can within the first few hours. After that, the wait times are going to be long for most of the rides. It’s a good park, but the lines get really long because there’s not as many rides as there are in Disneyland. I wouldn’t get Genie+ if you’re just going to be in DCA all day, but if you’re park hopping I’d tell you that it will make your day less stressful if you get it.

We brought our 10 year old daughter to Disney land California, for her first trip to Disney, both my wife and myself have marvellous memories of Disney in Florida 15 years ago.
We have never felt more let down by an experience than California Disney.
Despite limiting the number of guests in the park, every area is extremely crowded, too much to move. The rides seem to break down or get stopped at a moment’s notice, and the waiting times are ridiculous, over 2 hours to get on the smugglers run ride, 30 minutes more than the estimated wait time.
You need to be aware before you come to the park that unless you buy a genie+ fast pass (30$ per day per guest), you will only ride as a standby passenger, and will not get on until everyone with fast pass is on, this can mean an extra 30 minutes after you get to the front of the queue.
The genie+ fast pass, which we tried one day, is difficult to use, you can only book one attraction at a time, and you may get a time slot many hours in the future, this means in a typical day you will end up with only 3 or 4 rides at best and assuming they don’t break down…
You should also be aware that the genie+ fast pass does not cover the most popular rides in each park, fast passes to these are an extra 20$ per person.
The cast members who previously made visiting Disney so special were in short supply, also almost all of the shows seem to have been cancelled.
In short, it was a waste of a lot of money, we will not be back.

My husband and I were underwhelmed by this park. We found the park not as well decorated for Christmas and didn’t hold the same level of magic felt in Disneyland. We didn’t even bother to return for World of Color.
Wait times are atrocious and most rides do not offer anything special. The only attraction worth seeing is Cars land and be prepared to wait 60 minutes or more for the car ride itself. Wait times are additionally inconsistent and change drastically within minutes which makes it difficult to plan accordingly.
I find there are more characters here than in Disneyland, but good luck getting a photo with any of them. Lines are cut short quickly and characters can change while waiting in line which is disappointing. The only characters you are guaranteed to see is Encanto, but they are equally subject to availability and can change mid-line.
Parade is subpar and not worth wasting your time to view. Barely any characters and the one who do show do not interact with the crowds. Take this time to ride the rides with larger wait times. Lightning lanes are a waste of money in my opinion, with standby lanes having shorter wait times than if you booked a lightning lane for an hour or more later.
If we return, we would only focus on energy on Disneyland and not bother with this park.

We preferred this park to the Disneyland Park across the way. It is smaller and has less rides so probably makes it less crowded. We started our day here, figuring that most people would start in Disneyland and I think that was the correct choice to make.
We got on Goofy's Sky Ride and Spiderman really quickly and loved them both. We had lightning lane for Radiator Spring Racers which ended up working really well for us. My husband genuinely didn't realise that you had to scan all 4 Genie+ bookings to go down the lightning lane so the first time he did it, he only scanned 1 and we all just walked through behind him. We realised a bit later than you're supposed to scan all 4 and that we could go through again and use it, so we did!!!
It was disappointing that the Grizzly Rapids was closed for most of the day, we really wanted to go on that. It finally opened late afternoon and so of course everyone ran for it and the queue was horrendous. The lightning lane app wasn't updated for it so that was no use. We decided to give it a miss which turned out to be the right decision as it was only open for about half an hour before it closed again. Also the Incredicoaster was closed for much of the day which meant my husband and son missed out on it.
We unexpectedly met Mickey Mouse on our way out of this park - wasn't expecting to see him in this park but it was great as it only took us 5 minutes to meet him - the queue was 2 hours when we went to Disney Paris!

When I reviewed Disneyland 11 years ago, I gave it five stars as during that time, the line wasn’t as crazy and Disney still had the fastpass which was free.
Unfortunately, they’ve monetized fastpass now (which is called lightning lane) and the most popular rides, expect to see 2.5 to 3 hours wait.
A couple tips if you decide to go.
1) The Disneyland app is a must just to reduce your time being in line. So convenient to order your food as well as to check wait times for rides.
2) Naptime for the kids/break time for the adults at the hotel. It helps a lot if you intend on being at the park until closing. The break just gives you and the kids to freshen up, eat and relax.
3) If you can spare the money, get the lightning lane for the ride that you or your kid/s really want to do. Being in line for at least an hour (or more!!) just drains you.

DCA is a California themed park where the original Disneyland parking lot used to be.
Reservations (with paid ticket) are required to visit either park.
All of the attractions are more spread out more than the ones at DL. More walking. There is not much shade or places to sit. During the summer, be sure to bring a hat, neck fan, water, and maybe an umbrella (as shade, not so much for rain).
The NEW Genie + is terrible! $20 in addition to the overpriced ticket to utilize the "Lighting Lane" (formally known as "Fast Pass"). You can ONLY add it the DAY that you are entering the park and start booking your reservations one at a time...Who wants to be tethered to their mobile phone on vacation all day?
The attractions included in Genie+ are listed on the Disneyland site, not all of the rides are included.
If you want food, they try to encourage guests to order it via mobile device, instead of walking up to a restaurant when you're hungry. Most restaurants had TWO cashiers. Food is overpriced and meh.
Plus, there are not many tables to sit for dining after you order food. Very frustrating!
They took out Bug's Life for the Marvel Spiderman Avenger's Campus to keep up with Universal Studios. What a waste of space! It was the one area that parents could take their little kiddos.
It was overly crowded with swarms of people, not a fun experience. You pay hundreds of dollars to wait in line all day. There are so many other places to visit or do on vacation for a much better experience.

It was overly crowded with swarms of people, not a fun experience. You pay hundreds of dollars to wait in line all day. There are so many other places to visit or do on vacation for a much better experience.
This was my last visit to Disney.

An amazing park that you won’t get bored of! I could spend all morning in avengers campus. For any marvel lover this park is a must visit. The avengers campus boasts several rides including Guardians of the Galaxy - mission breakout. This is the old tower of terror that has perfectly been converted into guardians. It is easily the best ride in both parks. For any marvel or guardians fan, you have to do this ride. Even queuing is worth it, there is so much entertainment and props during the queue. Cars land is also great! The cars ride puts you on a high speed circuit, and lots of the cars characters (full size cars) drive around the area. The California area is quality, boasting a massive roller coaster ‘the incredi-coaster. A giant Ferris wheel, lake and lots of tasty food outlets. Highly recommend trying the mango beer. The Sanoma Vineyard is also nice to visit in the sun. But expect hefty alcohol prices. A hot dog along the Main Street is highly recommended for food choices. We also dined at the restaurant on the pier ‘Lamplight Lounge’, which is level with the water. We watched the light show from here, which is a must see. Chose this over the fireworks. After visiting both parks (Disneyland resort and CA) we felt CA was definitely the less busy of the two. There’s more room to walk around and not feel as busy as Disneyland resort.

If I rented an EVC in Disneyland and bought a hopper ticket, could I use the same wheelchair in California Adventure? Can I leave Disneyland in the wheelchair and ride over to California Adventure?

Hi, we hope to be going Disney Anaheim at Easter 2022, we are travelling from the UK and flights and accommodation are booked (rebooked several times)
We currently don’t have tickets to the Disney parks and it seems things have changed ticket wise since we originally planned.
So will we need to add on genie+ on to our cost and if so do we need it to add it to everyday or could we add it to 2 of our 5 days?
I’ve tried looking it up but can’t find much about it for Anaheim.

We were just there in the last 2 weeks and there is no Genie plus yet in California (just Florida). It's hard to say if it will be running by the time you arrive. You will just have to keep checking back. There are also some good YouTubers that produce Disney Park news that you may want to be following.

¿Saben si se permite la entrada a extranjeros a Disney California Adventure en estos momentos? Soy mexicana y me gustaría planear un viaje para el mes que entra pero no encuentro información al respecto en internet.
¡Gracias!

Can you buy a one day ticketfor entry to both parks ..Disneyland and California adventure and do they have seniors (79 years)rate please?

Yes there is a one day Disney Theme Park ticket with a park hopper option. Search undercovertourist and search Disneyland Park Hopper one day ticket. Be sure you look at Disneyland and not Disney World.
We used this legitimate site when we went last September and saved a few dollars on theme park tickets for the family.
There isn’t a senior rate which is to bad.
