When I'm looking for a nature field day and don't want to spend the bus fare, I go here. In the winter, especially, all sorts of marine birds gather, including huge numbers of avocets. At the end of the trail is Glass Beach, so named because it is almost completely covered with weathered sea glass, and from here, I can continue on into the State wildlife lands. This is also the only place where I have seen the Allen's hummingbird, so different from our abundant Anna's hummingbird.

I go to this spot to watch birds in the ponds, wetlands, and open water accessed by a nice network of trails. The birding changes with the seasons, but is especially good late summer through spring, with hundreds of shorebirds arriving in August and waterfowl in numbers a month or two later. This is also an excellent place to bike, walk, or jog, or just plain hang out. All the trails are well maintained and even. After years of work, the trails from the wetlands area now connect to the Napa River Bay Trail. There is also a loop trail for hikers and cyclists, and for folks on horses. Eventually the Napa River Bay Trail will go all the way north to the city of Napa. When that happens, I'm bringing my bike. Parking is easy, and there is a porta-potty in one corner of the lot (bring your own drinking water). Picnic tables (though only one with shade) and benches are within an easy walk of the parking lot.

Saw lots of birds, went to Glass Beach and had a great hike. Made him a reed broom to play with after we read the signs about the Indians. He wants to go fishing next time.

This is a gem of a place hidden in American Canyon. I bring my bike and my binoculars. It's a bit of a ways from the parking lot to the water, but it's worth it. It's completely flat, so it's easy to bike. I have seen raptors, egrets, herons, ducks, coots, swan families, and all kinds of other smaller water birds. There is also a spot called glass beach that's fund to beachcomb. This marshland was built over an old landfill, so you will bind interesting old beachglass and ceramics on that beach. There is a loop that people like to walk & jog around. Great local place to get outdoors and birdwatch/excercise.

Great hiking and bird watching spot! Easy hike for kids, close to playgrounds and good eateries at the end of the trail close to Highway 29.

We enjoy going to this open space along the Napa River. The Glass Beach has many gems for kids to find many colors of glass left over from the time this area was a dump.

Many bird lovers are not disappointed by the many species they can find and identify. Bikes, horses are allowed in some of the area, dogs are required to be on the leash, and a great place for children. Many of the mountains are identified through looking pipes. A wonderland to enjoy nature and unwind!

This is a paradise. The trails are perfect for a stroll or a run. Bring a lunch and sit on a bench with a bay view and enjoy the sounds of nature. Bring your dog for a perfect morning walk and their is a pet water fountain to keep them hydrated. The views are fabulous.

While there wasn't much to look at besides the pile of dirt in the middle and the bay, it was a nice walk and very peaceful.

Hearing about there being a Glass Beach sucked me in. We were staying in Napa and wanted to go for a scenic walk, so may as well check out the Glass Beach. I admit I was a bit disappointed with the beach, but the walk through the marshlands was great.

There's a nice parking lot with some picnic tables and benches nearby as well as a trail map. At every intersection there are arrows telling you which way to go for the trail you want to be on. It's a nice flat scenic walk. We were here on a Wednesday morning and it was fairly quiet. We ran into some people riding bikes and some walking their dogs.

There are good views of the mountains looking over the river. All in all it was a peaceful walk.
