So we decided to try stand up paddle boarding (SUP). My friend and I signed up for the 4hr beginner class at Mikes Paddle in Alameda. It was a small class. Everything was provided. Board, paddle, and wetsuit. Our instructor, Ben, was great. Very knowledgeable and super friendly. Really made me feel comfortable. It’s a very hands on class. You’re on the water 90% of the time. It was a great value ($85 for beginner class). Online setup is quick and easy. Staff is super friendly. If you’re looking for something to do, give SUP a try! Fun times!!…

I took an ACA Sup class from Mike's Paddle. I would really recommend Mike as an exceptional teacher and coach. Since he works with all skill levels, He will work with your current competency and make you a better paddler. I had a great time in his class, met some fine folks, learned new skills and improved my current skills.…

My wife and went here and had a great time. We both had experience on paddle boards, and while they would have provided instruction if we wanted... they just let us take of and paddle around on our own. My wife and I paddled through the back channels out into the bay and around the entire harbor. It was a little more choppy out in the bay but having a little more experience we were OK with that. Great service, great rates, if you're in the Alameda area check out Mike's paddleboard!…

I took their Level 1 SUP class July 2016. Just an FYI--they don't let you rent equipment or take other classes until you've completed the intro class. The instructors are highly knowledgeable and very focused on safety--the class was comprehensive and well structured. The facility has changing rooms and restrooms. They provide a wet suit if needed--in July the water was warm enough (by SF bay standards) that it wasn't totally necessary but the wet suit added protection from scrapes and provided extra padding at my knees. The class itself included a tour around part of Alameda and excellent views of San Francisco.…
