Performance was good, difficult for seniors and disabled people to get seating. Holding seats for friends and family is ok, but a seat should be given up when a person with disability comes in. There where several people with walking problems having to climb up a steep stair area when children had the prime seats. I think management should reserve... More

Saw "The First Supper" at Altarena Playhouse in Alameda this past weekend. Well written, well acted, humorous, very entertaining, & at a fantastically reasonable price for Bay Area live entertainment (<$20/person)! It's a small, cozy theater, where every seat is a good one, acoustics are great - could hear every actor's voice very clearly (amazing since I usually have trouble... More

We have been annual subscribers to this playhouse for several years and can honestly say that we have seen very few plays that did not meet our expectations. They are small and perform their productions in the round. Not a bad seat in the house. Prices are very reasonable. If you are looking for a great experience in a theatre... More

Two friends and I went here last weekend for a staging of "Light in the Piazza." I'm not an experienced theater-goer; I hadn't been to a small theater in ages. I enjoyed myself. The theater accommodates around 125 people. Quite intimate. The lobby area is quite small. A selection of refreshments including some wines are available for purchase. All of the... It's a very nice small theater in Alameda. Here you'll find a very good quality entertainment. Live performances are quite professional. Definitely worth the drive from as far away as, say, San Jose Pacifica or Concord.

We last attended a performance here in mid-December. The show was "Always Patsy Cline" and it was fabulous. The theater is small and over the years the performances have become better and better. We have been season ticket holders for about six years and never miss a show. Ticket prices are extremely reasonable.

I recently saw Altarena Playhouse's production of Neil Simon's "Barefoot in the Park" and was really impressed! It was a great quality production and tickets were only $26, and even better, with no additional service fees! It's a small-medium sized theater and this production was in the round (not sure if all of them are or was specific to this... More

I have been a season ticket subscriber for several years now, and I am still grateful to have access to such excellent productions for such a reasonable price. The theater is tiny and seating is on either three or four sides depending on the show's staging, so you are up close and personal with everything going on. The musicals in... More

What a great venue. We go to shows here a couple times a year. They put on great shows and you don't have to leave the island.

This little theatre has been around for some time. It has great performances at a reasonable price and you don't have to drive to SF for entertainment! Save on toll and parking!! It is fairly small but homely atmosphere therefore you can see pretty much where you sit. Sitting is first come first serve. I highly recommend this theatre for... More
