Apache Trail and Dolly Steamboat Tour

31 reviews
The Apache Trail is an old Indian trade route that runs from Canyon Lake through the Sonora Desert and into the Superstition Mountains. On this tour, explore the historic route by land and boat as you cruise across the lake on a Dolly Steamboat, then drive through the desert to the Old West village of Tortilla Flat.

The course was in decent shape ... thought the greens and fairways were kept well ... great course if you need wider fairways ... decent price compared to most courses ... all these factors draw a crowd which does affect enjoyable play ... unfortunately, all it took was one inconsiderate foursome to clog up the whole course ... course ranger was ineffective ... we were not able to finish before sunset due to the super lag of play

Over the weekend I purchased their summer card for $100 which gives you a hat , shirt , free round of golf and a small discount off rates ( $5 when I play which is ALWAYS late afternoon). Played a later round(not sure when I teed off if it was before or after 4pm). Went there today , practiced and wanted to go out at 4pm...FOUR PM IN LATE SPRING/SUMMER. Front side was closed because of the time and only the back 9 was open. TOTAL BS! NEVER stated this and why the hell would I think that to be the case when I purchased the summer card. It's summer...you know late afternoon rounds when you can work on your game! This course is tied into Las Colinas and I have noticed several things there. They are picking up the flags at 6pm , again...nonsense. And a lot of the members are PO'd for the way that course is being run. I don't play much at Apache Creek but during the course of the year I will put in 60-80 rounds plus range balls at Las Colinas so I spend plenty over the year.

Beautiful Golf course but really needs to manage the tee times better. Golfed twice, first time almost every hole was backed up and second time was over 40 minutes behind even though they opened the course on time.

Traditional desert course with a couple holes with water hazards Reasonable cost for the level of play Couple greens were hard, dry and bare. Starter system was very good, you knew exactly where you stood while waiting Marshalled course prompting fast play, target is 3 hrs 50 minutes. We fell behind and were reminded three times to continue to speed up. The Marshall was firm but wasn’t miserable about it, never felt threatened by him. Liked everything and would recommend to the average golfer. Weaknesses are: - Cart paths are in very poor condition - Signage between holes are terrible, not truly sure you are heading on the right direction to next hole - beverage cart does not sell hard liquor, only pop, beer and wines

Sure there are better (and much more expensive) courses out there but this is a nice track with some challenging holes. Many are very much desert links holes but if you know anything about golf in AZ you will have your "desert club" so you don't destroy your good clubs. Can be slow at times but hey - if you're in a hurry why are you golfing? We always found the course in ok condition and the staff great. Prices are reasonable as well.
