The Athens-Limestone Visitors Center is situated on the corner of Big Spring Memorial Park in a historic building that first served Athens as its Utility Building. The building has been fully restored with architectural features of the early 1900's when the building was first erected to pump water from the natural spring in the park to downtown Athens. Among the collection of information we offer to visitors to our community, you will find trail brochures, event listings and maps not only for Limestone County but also a number of attractions and cities in North Alabama. Our Guest Service Volunteers will answer your questions about the community or will take the steps to get you the information before you leave our visitor's center. We feature rotating displays of local art work, local goods, and souvenirs in our facility as well. Our postcards are very popular with travelers looking to send a piece of Athens-Limestone AL home to family and friends. Athens Visitors Center is easily accessed from Beaty Street by step or ramp.

Had a very nice visit with the lady at the visitor center. She actually opened the door for us on her day off. She was extremely friendly and helpful. She answered all our questions, offered suggestions and gave us local and Alabama information. She helped make our visit to Athens more enjoyable.

Our first stop during our Athens visit was to the Visitors Center...it is located in a historic structure, a plus in of itself, with a cute little garden immediately adjacent...and very clean mens and women's bathrooms right outside...the person tending the desk was extremely pleasant and helpful, helping us locate the historic sites we hoped to visit, plus a great... Did you like the local tourism brochures you picked up in U.G. White's store? Well, this visitor's center is the "mother lode" for them, where they came from. If you're more dedicated to tourism, you'll want to come here and pick up additional brochures, and talk with some of the folks. This visitor center is located in what was once... More
