Wow! What a fantastic experience. We booked a full day of fishing on the Snake River with Chase (Tim) as our guide. We are/were total novices with regard to fly fishing and within the first 30 minutes on the river Chase had us casting and comfortable with how fishing on the river works. He expertly guided us on the Snake River to the areas where we would find the fish and pointed out what to look for on the water. It was late in the fall and not crowded with other fishing boats. Literally by mid-morning we had lost count of how many fish we caught (catch and release). It’s not just the fishing, it’s the quality of the instruction (Chase made sure we never felt silly and provided great tips all day long), great conversation and “fish stories,” the time on the river in the rapids and being in the outdoors and plenty of lunch options. We would definitely do this again with Western River Anglers and felt it was without a doubt the highlight of our trip. We would highly recommend this experience and a HUGE thank you to Chase for such a wonderful day!

Derek was an excellent guide. He took our family of four out in the big boat for a full day of fishing and had our kids fly casting in the first hour. Derek took us to all the great spots on the snake and everyone in our group caught fish. He went above and beyond by pointing out wildlife and answering so many questions about the area. He was so easygoing every time we got our lines tangled (and it happened a LOT). At lunchtime, he found the perfect spot, pulled out a small grill and make us a wonderful lunch with burgers and hot dogs, fresh fruit, and other goodies. This has been a highlight of our trip and we can’t wait to come back. We would book with this outfit again in a heartbeat - anyone who gets Derek as a guide will have a great day.

Matt has never let us down. We've been using him and his service for over 10 years and the stories, experiences and memories are endless. We come from a long ways away and always know that we'll have a better trip then the year before, not sure how he can keep doing that for us? We've now begun to bring our sons and son-in-laws on these trips and reserve 4 boats and 4 guides and we're always given the best service, best food and best fishing.

This was my second float trip with Western River Anglers and the first one with my two children, ages 6 & 8 (at the time of our float). Matt and Chase did a great job with our family. I was in a boat with Matt and my friend (and his kids) were with Chase. It was my kids first time to ever fly fish and they loved every second of being out on the water. Matt did a great job of keeping them engaged and, more importantly, getting them on fish! We were going to Jenny Lake the following day and when my son heard the word "boat," he immediately assumed we were fishing again and eagerly exclaimed, "Dad! Wait. Boat? Half day or full day?!?" I was thrilled that he wanted to get back out on the water and had to break it to him that we wouldn't be fishing that day. We cannot wait to get back on the river this summer

Hands down the best drift trip we’ve ever taken - you will not get a better fishing guide in Jackson Hole than Jay Harris & WRA. My Wife and I took a full day trip in late July and could not imagine a better experience. Jay was a pro from from beginning to end. He works hard to get to the fish, teaches about the river, has awesome gear/boat (new Hyde!) and is as patient as they come - we went off the beaten path and we’re rewarded with nice cutthroats and a beautiful Brook Trout! Fresh grilled Salmon on a grassy bank with salad and desert…not kidding, the meal was better than some of the restaurants in Jackson… Great weather, scenic views, great fishing, awesome lunch & great company… Doesn’t Get Better!! Thank you to Guide Jay Harris and Western River Anglers (Matt). Recommend 100%. (We hope to be back soon)

There is a reason this place has 5 stars everywhere you look. Absolutely fantastic group of people! Chase made booking my trip super easy and recommended the right type of trip for me as a complete beginner. We were lucky to have Jeff as our guide. Not only was he super chill and fun to hang out with, but he was an incredible teacher and guide. He knows his stuff! Started out the trip looking at rocks to see what kinds of fly larvae were there so we could fish with the right bugs. I have never been fly fishing EVER and Jeff had me casting within 60 secs. Not only that, but I caught my first fish in the first 5 minutes. Jeff knows the river like the back of his hand and you can absolutely tell that he loves what he does. We saw 3 bald eagles on the trip which was a total bonus, and Jeff pointed out a couple of eagles nests for us to enjoy. Jeff seriously was amazing and his knowledge about the area, where to fish, how to fish, local wildlife, history of the area, etc. is invaluable. My husband and I just had the best time with him. Probably one of the most fun and unique days I gave ever had on vacation and Jeff really amplified the experience with his endearing personality and expertise. We would fish again with him ANY DAY!!! Jeff, if you're reading this...get your bio done...lol ;)

Spent a fabulous day fishing with Jay Harris. It had been about 4 years since I'd been on the river, fly rod in hand. Jay provided great top-notch equipment and quick mnemonics to find my casting rhythm again. It wasn't long until Jay got me into fish, landing 18 in. cutthroat within 20 minutes. Jay guided me to fishy holes and seams all day and I consistently caught Nice Fish throughout the day. And he made sure to capture all the special ones on camera and sent me the pics for great memories.
Jay took great care of me - changing flies, sharing stories & tales, constantly aware of boat safety and keeping me in the moment. It was my 75th birthday and Jay made it special. He was not solicitous, but made the subtle accomodations and assistance for a person of my age.
Jay knows where the fish are and gives you every chance to hook em.
I'll see ya next season buddy.

We had a great time! Jay and Jeff were wonderful at teaching fly fishing to the experienced ones on our trip and the neophytes. The river was beautiful and we all went home glad we booked our fly fishing trip with Western River. We highly recommend this group

My experience with Western River Anglers was everything I could ask for and more. Jay Harris took me to a beautiful spot for wading on the Snake River. He was very instructive and encouraging and the results could not have been better. The entire time that we were together Jay was focused on creating a memorable and successful fly fishing experience for me.

Western River Anglers was a great guide service. Our group had the pleasure of being guided by Carlos. Carlos was a very experienced and patient guide. He took us to Lewis lake and river, where we focused on catching lake, cutthroat, and brown trout. We had booked the "Big Boat" which allowed us to fish three people together. We had a great time catching fish and were able to land 8 lake trout and one beautiful brown. The fish were bighting like crazy and we had as many fish jump off our lines as we caught. Carlos was great at the net and helping us land our fish. Outside from fishing, Carlos set up a river side lunch where he grilled us some delicious burgers. All in all I highly recommend them for your Yellowstone fishing trips!

We guide the Snake River, Salt river, Green river , Big Horn and New Fork river. We also hold a permit to fish anywhere in Yellowstone National Park. Feel free to visit our website!
