This was actually a virtual tour led by Carolyn. She is extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of architecture and design as well as history. She is also a wonderful storyteller, and the time flew by. I think she could work with any group-a serious architecture and museum group, a family fun group and everything in between. This was my third virtual tour, and they have all been great. Can't wait to get to DC to tour with her in person.

I booked a virtual tour of historic Georgetown, what an amazing journey with Carolyn from DC Design Tours!!! One of the most satisfying outcomes of tours that I take is the amount of knowledge the host/guide has to share. Carolyn does not disappoint!! The tour was fantastic and she was full of information about history, architecture and interesting facts and stories. I highly recommend taking these tours for yourself and also using this as an opportunity to gift others with a unique and fascinating experience.

Great tour! This was our second DC Design Tour, the previous one was a few years ago on Embassy Row. To be honest, I almost chose to tour another neighborhood because I didn’t know what could be left to see. Well, turns out there was a lot! I worked in Georgetown and have walked around the neighborhood for more than 5 years, yet somehow had not really looked at or noticed the specific buildings she pointed out. Even among the ones I had stopped to check out before, I had not known the stories they had to tell. And what stories! I won’t spoil the surprises. One of my favorite moments was entering a “secret” alley that was the inspiration for a book I had read as a kid, “The People of Pineapple Place” (now out of print). The context of alley dwellings had been a bit lost on me as a child, so it was awesome to learn the story behind this place and to see that is still exists today. (There are many more alley dwellings throughout DC, especially Capitol Hill.) This was such a great way to learn more about the history of the area and some of its notable residents, while enjoying the architecture. The pace and distance of the walk was easy and though it was a sunny November day when we went, it seemed shaded enough to be cool-ish during the heat of summer. Overall, highly recommend this tour!

A friend and I recently went on a walking tour of Meridien Hill and its surrounding area. We met Carolyn in the park and had the most interesting talk/walk of the area. I've lived in DC for almost 3 years and my friend 10 and we both learned a lot. Carolyn is extremely passionate about imparting knowledge and she was enthusiastic and patient with our endless questions! i couldn't recommend this tour highly enough.
