We saw the Steps perform this past weekend at the Ronald Reagan Building. This was probably my 5th or 6th time seeing them, between trips to DC and when they have traveled to my area. We laughed so hard it hurt! I recommend checking out their website and listening to the songs they have ahead of time so you are somewhat familiar with at some lyrics - they go so fast it is hard to catch everything. They are an equal opportunity satire group - both sides of the aisle get poked fun of pretty equally.

Spot on with the political satire! We really enjoyed the show and the talented cast. A great addition to a week spent in D.C. learning about our government. What a great country we live in, that right here in D.C. the politicians are made fun of right under their noses! Highly recommend!

Do not miss this show! We live in the area and have been going for years. If laughter truly is the best medicine, we added years to our lives!

The Capital Steps leans heavily left in their humor. Almost all jokes are against Republicans and their platform. It also twists Republican beliefs into something they are not. The jokes "against" Democrats are extremely light hearted and mild in comparison. We left during the intermission. What a disappointment!

I attended the show with 6 of my friends. The comedy was so tasteless and tacky, we ended up leaving at intermission. $35 is way too much to spend for predictable jokes and lackluster acting. You are better off staying home and watching the Tonight Show.

Laughing our way through the latest edition of the unfailingly entertaining & provocative Captiol Steps helped ease the anguish of the current political nightmare. The material is always current & fresh & as often as you see them, that only a handful of talented performers can convincingly portray & mock so many varied political figures (of both parties) never fails to delight. Long live Lirty Dies & Oh Canada!

The new show " Orange is the New Barack" is a hilarious look at the current political atmosphere in Washington, DC. The cast of the Capitol Steps are former Capitol Hill staffers who present a satirical, vocal review of the news with songs like"Oops I tweeted again", " Hey Mr. Tangerine Man," How do you solve a problem like Korea?" and "If there were no rich men,". Now in their 35th year, no one is immune to the humor, Republican, Democrat, Supreme Court, the Pope.
The theater in the Ronald Reagan Building is comfortable, intimate with no bad seats. Parking in the same building is convenient and only $15 for the entire day. If not driving, Federal Triangle Metro stop is the closest. Check for online discounted tickets.

We were here about a year ago and thought it would be impossible to continue with such a hilarious show. Well, its still funny and thoroughly entertaining. We will certainly make this a yearly event now at the Ronald Reagan Building which is the Capital Steps home turf. Every Friday and Saturday evening. You have more security to go through here to enter and the place is huge. Give yourself some time to meander and eventually find the theatre although they do have ample signage directing you to the theatre. Snacks and wine for purchase outside the theatre. 15 minute intermission. $15 parking at the building or close by Federal Triangle stop on metro. If you're in DC or live in the area, you have to see this group. Have dinner down the street at the fantastic Hamilton. We have dinner there first park at 1325 G street and have the Hamilton host validate your parking for $10. and then go to the show.

In their long run of 30 years, this troupe truly are the best in satirical comedy. We have seen them under multiple regimes and they leave no one untouched. The group we saw this time not only gave us comedy scenes about those in power but also those who wish to be in power. Lirty dies is a standard of this show; it is an art rarely seen which turns the words into somewhat questionable but hilarious descriptions of the person or persons being roasted. One has to be somewhat knowledgeable about politics to truly understand all of the people in the scenes, however a quip about Paula Deen went over better than one about Arizona and the new laws.
It is definitely not for children; they would be bored. We had the extra treat of being there when they were recording the July 4th event for NPR. Also, one can meet the performers after and chat with them. Overall it is a great event for adults in DC. The cost is about $50; it is well worth the money.

My family members are ardent fans of this troupe but we will think twice before we go again.
We have seen the Steps seven times before in various venues in NYC. Each performance got better than the next one. The last one we saw in NYC was at Town Hall last winter.

Now we decided to see the troupe in DC. It was terrible. The performers, with the exception of one man who we have seen before, were second rate. They did not enunciate well and we had difficulty several times understanding them as they garbled their words. We thought it might be the acoustics in the hall but it was such a small theater.

Then came the material. One thing we love about the Capitol Steps is that they make fun of everyone. Now it seems that they have a political agenda, bashing one side far more and far more unfairly than another. To make their point, they had to go back to old news. We know they repeat some wonderful routines but this material was dated and irrelevant.

The performance was a complete disappointment and we intend to let everyone know that this group is not what it once was.
