He did a quick weekend trip to D.C. and booked at the Hilton in L’ Enfant Plaza. About the best location we could have picked. Walking distance to the Wharf for entertainment and great restaurants, and walking distance to the Mall and all of the monuments and museums. And in front is the Spy museum! A must visit. One tip, plan 2 hours min per museum. So much to see. Highlights were: capital building and a chance opportunit to witness a senate in session, lincoln memorial and washington monument at night, the National Air and Space museum, and the Spy museum.

This plaza is the best of all worlds. It is a Metro stop for one. You have multiple food options to choose from. There is also a Hilton hotel with direct access there. It is a win win win place to be.

Finding parking near Smithsonian is impossible. When I have friends and family in from out of town and don't take the Metro, then L'Enfant Plaza is where I go to park for museums, cherry blossom festival, etc. There's also a food court but think it's only weekday lunch and not weekends.

Hilton L’Enfant is excellent and there is a great food court and shopping adjacent. Walking distance to National Mall and many monuments.

We didn't really like the vegetarian choices and the place closes at 7pm! Only good for fast food on the go

I generally stop here before taking the Express Bus to the Dulles International Airport. There are shops here where one can go shopping and Food Court that offers several food options. The latest one I tried was the Vietnamese Restaurant that offers delicious pho or soups plus other Vietnamese dishes. Note that there is also public restrooms near this Food Court.

A block away from here is the Bus Stop for Express Bus to the Dulles International Airport or IAD. The fare is only $5 per person. It makes 2 stops in Virginia before proceeding to the airport.

We stayed here mainly because my friend had a conference at that hotel. And it was pretty close to where my son and future daughter-in-law live. Let me see those were the only advantages. We waited a long time to register and that was at 11 o’clock in the evening. Of course the restaurant was closed, in the bar had Last call in an hour.

We went to her room hungry and tired and walks what felt like 300 yards from the elevator to get to our room.

Decent nights sleep so the next morning, I called for room service. Been traveling a lot in my life never knew that I hadTo order room service through the television and that there were no substitutions allowed. When the order didn’t arrive in the 30 minutes promised I call down and received a call from the operator who said that if I wanted to pick up my room service I could otherwise it was a five dollar surcharge to have it brought to the room.

That’s ridiculous.

The next day I came back from meetings, at 5 o’clock and the room wasn’t made up.

I called customer service and was told that they were still cleaning rooms I asked them to get there now. The woman on the other end of the phone said that she was busy and they were busy and they would get to me when they could.

The final straw was when the housekeeper finally did come and change the towels one of the “clean “towels had a brown stain on it. I’ll leave it to you from where that stain came from.

I have been a blue Hilton honors member for a while, but I have to tell you that there were no advantages for that on this trip except free Wi-Fi which was slow anyway.

Oh and by the way the pool. Closed for construction which they did not have while I was there.

Do yourself a favor stay someplace else

23 dollars a day to park here.. it was super easy to walk to the mall and quickly get on to major highways. Spent two days parking here with no problems.. if you are gonna bike and roll. This is the place to park. Hilton uses this parking as well. 8 min to walk to the wharf from parking as well.

L'Enfant Plaza is conveniently located near the Mall and the Smithsonian, but it is a rather sterile concrete jungle. It is a bit "dead" outside of business hours, and if you walk the wrong direction, you can walk right onto the expressway. Traffic patterns can be tricky and dangerous. and there have been a few violent crimes in the metro there.

I've been going through some of the stuff they have on trip advisor and informing them of restaurants which have closed and so forth. I go through L'Enfant plaza everyday for work. Here's what you need to know. It's a metro stop in a business area of DC. There's nothing to see at "L'Enfant Plaza." HOWEVER, please note this is the closest metro stop to the Air and Space Museum, Hirshorn and Indian Museum. Follow the signs to Maryland Ave/C street on the top level of the station. You'll ride up an escaltor under a glass canopy and be looking at a large glass office building. If you keep going to the left on 7th past the 6 story marble office building(FAA), the air and space museum will be behind that. If you go for more than two streets and don't see the mall (large green area), you're headed in the wrong direction. Lunch? Cosmos Cafe or Vie de France in that large builing you saw when you came up the escaltor. Of if there are food tucks? (There will be many, many food trucks on a good day) do that. I could do a separate review just on them.
