This is one of our favorite places to stop when walking the National Mall. It was a memorial to those who served that was long overdue but once it was built I think it is one of the most detailed and nicest.

Features sides for both the Pacific and Atlantic portions of the war. Has statues for each state. Very impressive and worth seeing!

How do you honour your brave people who give everything for their country. This monument is in the perfect spot where all can visit. The "star" wall speaks volumes.

It is amazing the way this place was created to perpetuate all the people and regions that help sending resources to avoid the war.

Great memorial with representation from all states. It is beautiful especially with the water-side location and fountains - kids love to play by it. We took some great shots of the place.

If possible, go at night or around dusk. The memorial is so beautiful when lit up in the dark. There is a lot to see, so block off at least 20-30 minutes to make it around the entire memorial.

We stopped by with our children while walking back from the Lincoln Memorial and it was stunning the to see at night. It gave us a good opportunity to talk to our kids about history and the sacrifice many have taken for our country.

Loved just standing there and looking at every detail. You can easily spend about an hour just looking at all the information. Very cool

The "Washington DC National Mall, Monuments and Memorials Walking Guide (Washington DC City Walking Guide Series) Kindle Edition" is a decent download for just $3.99. You may want to give it a try.
