We were (accidentally) able to time our visit to the gardens during the annual Lotus and Water Lily Festival. It was a great photo opportunity and perfect way to spend some time in nature-leisure. Not quite sure what might be on display when nothing is...More

This was our first visit to the Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens. Being in DC in the summer is always an exercise in managing the heat and humidity. While the center of the city, especially around the National Mall, is roasting, places like the Aquatic...More

Make sure to visit earlier in he day. In hot weather water lilies will close up by mid-afternoon. I was told they don't like the heat, and who could blame them. It's a very relaxing, quiet place to spend few hours. Hard to believe that...More

Wonderful reuse of previously abused wetlands. Historical interest. The one downside is that you really need to visit in midsummer, and the area is HOT. So go early and take a hat.

We there during the lotus festival and although it was quite a bit out of our way it was well worth the visit. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the park rangers (who I believe were especially there for the festival) were friendly...More

This location is a little off the beaten path for most D. C. visitors but don't let that or the neighborhood or even the parking lot disuade you. The lotuses in full bloom are stunning! I was shocked to see large ponds full of these...More

We visited the gardens on our trip to Washington, and we found it to be delightful and peaceful. It appears not to get many visitors, as it is a bit out of the way.

Located closed to the beltway, you will never imagine to find such a heaven. Few ponds host different lilies species. It is quiet and simply beautiful

This is an unknown park that is a quiet oasis in a very noisy city. It is a natural setting surrounded by urban living. You can get away without getting away.

It's a bit of a trek to get to the gardens from downtown and you almost have to do by car (or uber/lyft), but it's an amazing place when the water lilies and lotus are in bloom. This is mostly during the hot months of...More

There would not be too many places to lay out a blanket. Most of this park is water.
