Clearly the role of Martin Luther-King in the history of the US is well established. This monument is of a more modern style than many surrounding it, with a sculpture of the great man being the main focus.

The visage of the Reverend MLK Jr. chiseled from rock serves as a stark reminder of all the work that still needs to be done to achieve what we all dream will one day come true.

Excellent memorial next to the Potomac. It featured a large statue with a wall inscribed with several of MLK's most famous quotes. It's cool how the statue is carved out of a large chunk of stone with much of the stone remaining. It's made to make reference to his quote, "Out of a mountain of despair, A stone of hope."... More

There is something about this stop that is very serene and peaceful. You almost don't want to make a noise. Mlks famous quotes are lined on a wall going around the statue. Lovey place and sculpture!

Visited this Memorial during my night bus tour. It is a hugh walk to and from the Memorials from what I researched prior to my trip so I book a hop-on hop-off bus tour that included the night tour as well. The Martin Luther King Memorial stands very tall. It is the newest of all the Memorials in DC. You... More

Modern tribute to a slain American. Lots of quotes. Easy access. Great views. The memorial is situated near water and feels peaceful. Great spot for reflection. Gift shop is nearby.

Another must-see when visiting D.C. What a beautiful and majestic way to honor Martin Luther King, Jr. You can almost hear his iconic voice as you stand in awe of his commanding stature.

What I liked about this memorial was the huge MLK statute and the many quotes from his famous speeches. It is so quiet and serene. Nice place to visit and get those conversations with your children started. After all this is History.

Lots of controversy over this memorial-so make your own judgment. As for me, I thought it was great. It captured what Dr. King said and those words will be enshrined forever
