We joined the new Historic Alleyways Walking Tour last Sunday afternoon. Katie was an excellent guide. She really gives you a glimpse into the forgotten lives of past DC residents that lived and labored in the shadows. The walk ends with an overview of recent efforts to create colorful community art spaces in the Alleys. We highly recommend if you looking for a fun cultural escape after a hectic week.

Katie's tour was excellent and well-paced. She was an enthusiastic and knowledgable guide who came in costume even on a humid summer night. Her tour brought to life workers living in the shadows whose stories are rarely told. Even the most knowledgable history enthusiasts will gain unique insights. I highly recommend this tour.

A newer and not regularly scheduled tour, The Jewish History of Washington tour was fascinating. Led by Ami Greener, 2 hours was spent providing information that most likely, is known by few.

My husband and I have lived in the DMV area for decades, are history enthusiasts and have explored widely and yet were completely unaware of the information Mr. Greener discussed.

This tour fills a gap that has not been addressed despite the multiple tour companies DC offers.

Thank you Katie for creating this tour and Ami, for a well-spent, interesting afternoon. I highly recommend.

Katie's " Black Broadway: Theaters and Jazz Clubs" tour was excellent and engaging. She provided a lot of interesting facts about local artists, venues, and the U St/Shaw neighborhoods. It was just about two hours, which was the perfect length of time.

I joined a special tour “Lesser-known Notables of Oak Hill Cemetery”. Katie effectively connected stories of the selected dead with their tombs. By hearing their stories right in front of their tombs, the stories became more real, more connected to Washington DC, and more relevant to me who lives there. I wanted to hear more stories of other interesting people. At the end of the tour, Katie told us that the most haunted placed in DC is White House and presented ghosts in White House, which I didn’t know and enjoyed a lot besides all other stories. It was also helpful that Katie collaborated with the site manager for Social Media to explain the history of the chapel. Finally, I liked Katie brought a small speaker to play some spooky background music while moving from one tomb to another. May thanks, Katie! You made my day!

What a wonderful opportunity with a tour visiting Oak Hill Cemetery. The host was informative, creative (love the period dress) and we went away knowing things we didn't know before. Can't wait till our next tour!

I was in DC over Christmas week 2021. Many tour operators had limited offerings due to the holiday, and I was delighted to learn that Off the Mall was hosting a special "Jewish History of Washington" walking tour on December 25. I am not Jewish, but I enjoy learning about history and culture. I believe that tour guide Ami hosts tours for diplomats visiting DC, and it's clear that he's an entertaining, thoughtful, genteel storyteller. I so appreciate that Ami and Off the Mall made time to host a tour over the holiday. That being said, I believe that I connected less with the tour than other tour guests who were Jewish or more educated in the faith. As a non-Jewish Chinese person, I simply didn't understand the significance of all the material. I'm still very happy that I joined the tour, and I hope to join more Off the Mall Tours when I'm next in DC. Off the Map also does a great job with email communication leading up to the tour.

Katie, the tour guide, was gracious and knowledgeable about the Union Market, the history of Washington, and the cultural highlights of the ethnic food vendors we visited. This was far more than a food tour - she led an art, history, culture, and cuisine experience that was fun. The tour was a great value and a superb use of time.

We did the Punk tour with Katie last night. Fascinating history full of interesting facts, great delivery, and I loved her passion. I have lived in DC for more than 20 years total - I never claimed to be a punk expert, and I learned so much on her tour, especially really cool DC context. I will do more of her tours.

Had a wonderful time on this tour! The guide was engaging, informative, and incredibly knowledgeable. The content was interesting and tied into the sites we visited in the neighborhood. A great way to get to know this DC neighborhood, with shout outs to both historical locations and current venues! The pacing was excellent; the tour was 2 hours but we stopped frequently to listen and learn, and there was even a bathroom break in the middle. 10/10 would recommend and would attend again.
