It is an impressive building... unfortunately most of the altar area and higher floors are being repaired from the earthquake damage. However, you could still enjoy the space, the magnificent organ and the windows.

... but from inside, I felt very offended when I saw how much they charge for tickets! For me it was something new and a surprise (never saw a church that charge to visit before). Anyway, the cathedral is very imposing and really, really big. But only visit there if you have time (its kinda far from other DC attractions)... More

The behind the scene tour with Melinda was terrific! It is fun to have a tour leader who has the same gee-,wiz attitude as the guests being led. The tour cost between $21 and $25, depending on age, and lasted about 2 hours. Up and down stairs and narrow corridors, out onto the roof, looking down onto the floor of... More

The facade was amazing as was the stained glass. We walked around the entire building and was quite amazed. It is out by George town so quite a distance from the white house, took the underground to George town and the bus back.

Stopped here on a drive to Maryland, but almost missed it. $10 to gain entrance...that was a disappointment, but I paid as I wanted to see the interior. I was not disappointed. A towering cathedral proudly representing our nation. Look in a small landing to the right and you will find the resting place of Woodrow Wilson. The views from... More

It was a nice big place, but quite a ways from downtown attractions. Got a 25 taxi ride, plus admission so probably not worth it.

Cathedral is a nice place to spend a couple of hours. Not that special in terms of history etc. but is an imposing building with some beautiful stained glass which at the right time really captures the light. Good views of DC from the top of the spires.

still some work to do after $30M of damage from the 2011 easthquake but it adds to its appeal - fabulous stained glass windows and unusual chapels - tour guide was a volunteer but made the visit - dont miss the viewing gallery on the top floor - amazing views - entry is $10 which goes towards the repair costs

This beautiful and majestic cathedral, which sits high on a hill in our nation's capital, is a wonderful gothic masterpiece that took 100 years to complete. Both the exterior and the interior rival the greatest gothic cathedrals of Europe. It is a must-see. (Don't forget the gardens, too.)
