Construction on the cathedral started in 1907, not finished until 1990 – 83 years! Then it was damaged by the earthquake in 2011! They talked a lot about that earthquake. It's beautiful, lots of stained glass. Couldn't hear three words in 20 from the lady volunteer but it was interesting to see. Woodrow Wilson's tomb is inside. Also there's a... More

I was pleasantly surprised by the non-political nature of the sermon. The Cathedral is breathtakingly beautiful and I can't wait to go back the next time I visit Washington.

I heard about this cathedral decades ago when it was still under construction so I wanted to see the result after such a long construction period. It's nice enough, and feels new, but seems to lack the personality of cathedrals in the UK and Europe. Unless you have some reason for visiting before you've seen the other sites in DC... More

We attended the Sunday service. Took communion; and so very touched by the complete service. And, breath taking beauty.

The amount of detail that went into the exteriors is absolutely matched in the interiors! Universally beautiful!

The 6th largest church in the World. It is Majestic. The pure grandness is hard to express. The architecture is amazing. The stained glass windows are breath taking. So much thought and love went into building this amazing place. I'm not doing this place justice, I just don't know how. 5 stars enough said.

My sister is visiting this week and we thought a tour of the National Cathedral would be something we'd both enjoy. It was beautiful! The 7th floor observatory is wonderful because you get to walk around the entire tower and see an amazing view. Unfortunately, today was very rainy and cloudy so you couldn't see very far but a few... More

We visited the cathedral on our last afternoon in Washington, and we were so glad we got there. Admission is $12 ($8 for teachers if you have proof of your profession). First we headed to the 7th floor to look at the views of Washington from windows wrapped around one of the towers. Afterward we went to the basement and... More

We attended Easter Service. It was a very formal service befitting the National Cathedral in a wonderful cathedral. The early morning light coming thru the stained glass windows resulted in great colors painting the inside of the cathedral.
