The Capitol is among the most architecturally impressive and symbolically important buildings in the world. The Senate and the House of Representatives have met here for more than two centuries. Begun in 1793, the Capitol has been built, burnt, rebuilt, extended, and restored; today, it stands as a monument not only to its builders but also to the American people and their government.

Good a tour before you go with your local congressman. You'll thank me later. Their tours have more access to the building! Thank you Congressman Mike Thompson!

We took a tour inside the Capitol Building. I definitely recommend doing this tour. No drinks and food are allowed in the building so don't pack any. There is airport security so your bags will get searched. It was so great to learn the history...More

We recently toured the US Capitol. It is worth seeing, but be prepared for long lines. You also have to go through security measures multiple times - worse than an airport! It will be easier if you don't have bags. Also, spinners are not allowed....More

Impressive building, replete with statues and paintings. Certainly does not rival similar buildings in Europe, but still worth a visit if in town. I had the opportunity to visit with a former congressperson on a Sunday, so the place was completely empty. Not sure I'd...More
