I stumbled upon this beautiful garden while walking to the National Gallery of Art. It is small just 4 acres divided into 3 different gardens. It is worth seeing.

It is a pretty garden but really small in my opinion. If you are around the Smithsoniam building you can't miss it.

Easy to walk through as one walks the Mall. It is peaceful and has plants I have never seen before. Enjoyable break.

We enjoyed walking through in the morning. They had tables and chairs to relax at. I especially liked the tropical potted plants they had brought out to the garden in the summer heat.

The Smithsonian has great museums, but that greatness means lots of people. So it is often great to be able to smell the roses so to speak, and visiting the Moongate Garden is one way to do that behind the castle and near the Sackler/Freer...More

Sightseeing is exhausting. The Enid Haupt garden is a wonderful spot for a respite. The plantings are diverse, labeled and extensive making the garden a visual feast for the eyes and a lovely place to rest and catch your breath.

Most, not all (the Newseum, for one, one of the best museum's in DC) museums are free, however, all Smithsonian-related museums, which are US-government sponsored, are free. These gardens are part of the Smithsonian. Enjoy.
