This was my husband's and son's first trip to DC. My son is autistic and has great difficulty with crowds, waiting in line, and travel in general. We picked mid October for a visit to minimize the crowds, but even so, a hop on-hop off type of tour would not have worked. So despite the higher cost, we chose a private tour that was customized to our interests. Grand Atlas Tours picked us up at our RV Park and took us to all the sites we wanted to see, and then some. Our guide Clift was extremely knowledgeable about DC history and politics, and even our particular interests, architecture, city planning, and geology, and the driver was very safe and courteous. To my son's enjoyment, a large bag of M&Ms and bottles of water were provided free. My favorite sights were the Bishop's Garden at the Washington Cathedral, the Air Force Monument, and the Korean War Memorial. We would not have been able to see and learn so much without this private guided tour, and the weather was beautiful the entire time. No need to worry about driving directions, parking, and reading tour books. We were very happy to have chosen Grand Atlas Tours.

I Traveled with 31 high school students to DC and we wanted to see the sights. Atlas Tours was recommended by a friend and they were great. During the planning stages, I had many needs and Eric was super flexible. We were met by Eric and our guide Cash. The tour of Arlington was fantastic. Before the trip, students complained about touring a cemetery but once we met Cash and started the tour he had their attention and provided a true experience for them. One student remarked "watching the changing of the guard was one of the coolest things I have seen in my life"
On a separate day, Cash walked us around the mall including the Lincon, Vietnam, Korean, FDR, MLK, and WWII memorials it was awesome. I would recommend Atlas Tours to anyone who is looking for a guide to show them DC in a personal, informative and memorable way.

This was my first time in Washington DC, so my friend recommended this tour together. The tour was very well curated and very comfortable.

We were accompanied by a guide and chauffeur that helped us see and learn almost everything about DC, it’s monuments and special places of interest in just 4 hours!

I highly recommend them for the V.I.P service they provided us from pickup to drop-off.

We feel so thankful that we found Eric and Grand Atlas tours. Our group of 8 was in DC for a work convention and our age range was 25-50. Since we had limited free time, we went searching for a private night Tour of DC. Thanks goodness we found Grand Atlas. Eric’s transportation was comfortable and nice. We loved being able to leave things inside the van with our driver while we explored sites. We learned so much from Eric while at the sites but also as we rode from place to place. He offered fun trivia questions that made the drive seem like part of the entertainment. It was also nice to have a tour guide who doubled as camera man with us at all times Eric was able to answer any question we threw out at him. He truly is a knowledge expert. At the end of the tour, we casually mentioned dessert sounding delicious (particularly a cookie cake). Before we knew it, we were being ushered out of the vehicle to a local cookie shop that was absolutely delicious. The luxury van waited then brought us back to hotel. We found out about having a free night fairly last minute and had limited connectivity during work meeting. Eric’s ability to quickly communicate via text and email helped make it super easy to reserve and plan tour. Flannery did a great job on website making it simple to learn about Grand Atlas tours. 8 very strong willed personalities all very strongly recommend the five star service provided by Grand Atlas tours.

I highly recommend Grand Atlas for those wanting to maximize their time spent visiting in Washington DC. My husband, three boys (ages 14, 12, and 10) and I had a limited amount of time in the city, and we really wanted to be as efficient as possible at not only seeing as much as we could but also learning as much as we could. Eric exceeded our expectations!

Eric was great leading up to our visit, making sure he understood what our goals were and planning the itinerary around our requests. I relied on his expertise to help us narrow down and plan a realistic list of stops. We were able to accomplish what we hoped and then some.

It was hot and busy the day we were there (July 3rd) and the convenience of being able to hop in and out of the van at each location was key to making the day more efficient and enjoyable. We never had to wait more than a minute or two for our driver to pick us up.

I believe the best part of seeing DC this way was Eric's incredible knowledge of the city, memorials, museums, monuments, history, and more. Our kids picked up on way more information than they would have if we had tried to self-guide. In fact, our 12-year-old came home and talked in detail for 45 minutes with his grandparents about so many things we learned from Eric! When we weren't learning about history or the city, Eric entertained us with fun trivia and his vast knowledge of states/countries/provinces and their capitols.

Eric was professional, patient, never rushing us through any stop. He managed our time and questions wisely and was very personable with us and the kids. He remained very politically neutral throughout the tour, which we were very appreciative of.

If you are on the fence about seeing DC this way, or if you have qualms about spending the money, I hope this review helps put your hesitations to rest. We have no regrets, and truly believe it was money well spent to help us appreciate such a special and significant city.

My partner and I came to DC last minute, and were lucky enough to book a 4 hr evening tour of the city and monuments, and it went far beyond our expectations.

A private, clean car, stocked with water bottles (and candy!) takes you all around the city, and not only do you get a friendly and courteous driver, but your very own tour guide. Our guide, Eric, had incredible knowledge of the city and its history, and I really liked that you could tell he really enjoyed what he did. He also takes great pics of you!! Very important part, in my opinion. You get to do things at your own pace, and spend as much time as you like taking it all in. It was so cool to do at night, you really see things from a different perspective. All of the stops on the tour were interesting and cool, all the traditional stops you would think of in DC, plus some lesser known ones that I never would have known about. I felt so exclusive :)

I have been on many, many tours throughout the world, and so many of them are corny or rushed but this really went above and beyond. Highly recommend this tour to anyone coming to the city!

Danielle, our driver, was very pleasant, patient and knows the city very well. He was a patient and safe driver. The luxury SUV was very clean and he offered us child bottles of water to drink.

Cash, our tour guide, called ahead of time to confirm an easy and flexible pick up time and location. He was very professorial, friendly and extremely knowledgeable about everything we asked about. He even offered to answer any questions after dropping us off at the end of the tour. He made it fun and told us some fun facts about things we never knew. He really is the best.

Thank you so much to all of you. This will be a experience our children will hopefully talk to their children about.

We did the night tour with Grand Atlas and it was a WONDERFUL experience. Adam was a fantastic tour guide who catered to our needs by understanding what we had already seen and changing the agenda appropriately. DC is a beautiful area at night and I would recommend EVERYONE to do a night tour. We saw all of the sites by day beforehand, but the night lights just made it that much more beautiful. It was a great time!

Eric's impressive knowledge and sense of humor made our private tour of DC most enjoyable. Our driver Mike effortlessly maneuvered through rainy DC traffic as we visited the sites on our personalized itinerary. Eric went beyond expectation by including extra stops on the tour and arranging lunch reservations. If you are looking for a stress-free way to absorb all that DC has to offer, contact Grand Atlas Tours.

My wife and I booked Grand Atlas Tours for a night tour of Washington D.C., so we could see the memorials all lit up and with fewer people.
Eric was a very knowledgeable guide, and had a lot of great information about not only the sites we visited, but also Washington D.C. in general. One thing that definitely got us off on the right foot was his responsiveness. He returned phone calls quickly, and met us in the lobby (he got there early, let us know he was there and told us to take our time, just come down when we're ready). He adjusted his standard tour for what we wanted to see (as well as making suggestions based on our conversation). The start and end time were at our discretion, as well as how long we spent at each site.
Eric not only had knowledge of the sites, but also the events that led up to them. For example, we spent some time discussing not only the Korean War Veterans Memorial, but also troop movements and reasons for success and failure. We learned a lot, and had a great time overall.
Thanks Eric!
