There is something education for all.You need to expect crowds in the summer time. Gift shops had reasonable prices.

I grew up with the Smithsonian. It is one of the most fabulous places to visit in one of the most fabulous cities in the world. Try the roads less travelled - the Freer Museum, for example.

Because there are so many exhibits, you have to know exactly what you want to see before you go, particularly if you are on a tight schedule. Free entry made a big difference

You can see the entire Smithsonian Institution Building in an hour or two, in my opinion. Spend some time outside in the garden and admiring the architecture. Then see the exhibits inside. It isn't so much a museum as it is... More

Yes. Check out tripplanner.si.edu, Smithsonian's newest tool that helps you plan a visit across all the museum's in DC. And all of Smithsonian's museum's in DC are free!
