We came here just to have a drink and read about the history. The watergate hotel didn’t serve drinks until the evening so we found a nice cafe. We read through the watergate scandal which was interesting as we’ve never appreciated exactly what happened then.

It's interesting seeing the complex where the burglary took place that lead to the resignation of President Richard Nixon. The Democratic party headquarters was on the 6th floor (the floor with the terrace/balcony) of the Watergate office building (2600 Virginia Avenue). Across the street, the George Washington University building, was previously a Howard Johnson's where the burglars' lookout was stationed on the 7th floor.

There isn't really anything as far as historical markers to tell you what took place. Thus you either have to read up beforehand and connect the dots, or go on a tour. However, it's still an interesting place to visit. Be sure and walk throughout the complex but the architectural design is also noteworthy.

This is a very interesting landmark, and it's next door to the Kennedy Center, so you can't miss it! It's beautifully situated beside the Potomac, but the building itself is a bit of an eyesore. Wish there was something outside of it to talk about the scandal, but I didn't see anything.

The famed Watergate hotel is a hotel and residence. It is not really open to the public, nor are tours given. However, I spent two afternoons walking around, enjoying the water fountains and the view. The Watergate has a wonderful gift shop where you can get items with the hotel name on them.

The irony of the Watergate is that Kennedy and Nixon will forever be linked in another way. The Watergate hotel is right next door; only a few feet from the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. The Watergate hotel is located in Foggybottom, near Georgetown. Just get directions to the Kennedy Center and look to the right (no pun intended).

As part of our trip to visit our nation’s capital we were taken to this place. Pretty neat to think you are standing in a place where much history happened. Planning on spending more time on our next visit so we can take more in.

If you have heard about Watergate for many years since Nixon, this is it!! It is next to the Kennedy Center if you want to do a drive by, and next to the Watergate hotel if you want to get up close. Aside from its unique design for the time it was built, there really is nothing to see.

This complex was very close to our hotel. We went in after a great show at Kennedy Centre and were thrilled to sit at the WATERGATE bar with its all red decor...and I mean all RED.

Another building but this one is more significant because of The watergate Scandal. The building is extremely large and consists of four round buildings. Of interest only

The break in to Democratic Party headquarters in the Watergate, orchestrated by the Nixon Whitehouse, is memorialized here with the planning done in the old Howard Johnson's across the street (now a residence for George Washington University). Time has marched on so there is not much to see other than a huge residential complex with offices scattered throughout. A few shops on the lower level with two pretty good restaurants on the south side. Faces the Kennedy Center and the Saudia Arabia Embassy, both impressive buildings. Take a walk around the entire complex to get a sense of just how big this place really is, but don't expect much more.
