City Sights on City Bikes

The ultimate urban adventure! See D.C. like a local in the most personal way. D.C. is flush with some great city bikeshare bikes. Sure, they are a bit heavier but once you get rolling you barely notice as their wide tires smooth out rough patches of pavement. We can explore some of D.C.’s remarkable urban fabric, cool neighborhoods and even check out the major monuments, National Mall, White House and or Capitol Building. I’ll bring helmets and gear to make the experience even more safe and fun. Depending on availability, we can also use electric assist bikeshare bikes.

All of it from start to end was enjoyable. Jeff gave us quick review how to ride in DC & how to follow him safely. He then gave us a detailed but enjoyably fun story of the British forces torched the White House, the Capitol and nearly every other public building in Washington in 1812. Then we followed him on bikes to all the buildings 6o learn more while enjoying the scenic view of DC. He provided water & lights to make sure we were safe. He mad sure to bike at everyone's pace so no one is left behind. Jeff provides a professional and enjoyable bicycle tour of Washington, DC in day or night with few or more riders. You will se more from the ground than you do in a bus or car tour. I promis you will enjoy every minute of it. The 6-8 mile, 3 hours was fabulous!! Mesfin

Jeff was a terrific, thoughtful and amiable tour guide and he gave us a unique experience enjoyed by both the longtime residents and visitors in our group. To beat the heat on the hottest day of the summer, we requested a shady ride in the morning, and Jeff customized a tour for us. We met in Brookland for a bagel at 8:30 am. Jeff brought four hybrid bikes (with helmets) for my wife, myself and our adult son and his girlfriend. On our way to the mouth of the Anacostia River, Jeff led us through Northeast to the Capitol where he stopped to relate building and politicL history we didn’t know. From the Capitol, we headed to the Wharf and then followed the riverfront past Audi Field and Nationals Park to the 11th Street Bridge. After crossing the river, we followed a nice route through the park and up the river. Our route was mainly on a nicely paved and shady bike path. After a brief stop to see the Lotus Blossoms at the Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens (with facilities!), we continued to Bladensburg, MD on a relatively new and still largely shaded bike path. Jeff provided the story of the 1812 Battle of Bladensburg, and we returned to DC on a mix of quiet streets and bike paths. After 20 miles or so of a mostly level ride, the climb back up hill to Brookland challenged us, but we made it. Jeff made sure we were well-hydrated by supplying filled water bottles at the outset and refilling them along the route. We all highly recommend him!

Our family goes to DC from Florida every Father's Day and we love outdoor activities when we travel. We used Jeff last year to negotiate the C and O canal and were so impressed with his knowledge and personality that we could not wait to see him again. When we got to town on Thursday the COVID induced lack of traffic sparked a conversation between Jeff and I. He shared that the ability to tour DC on bikes to the sights in this unprecedented time would be life changing. We loved his suggestion and took all 5 of us on the tour. My wife and I started 12 miles away from DC on the C and O and then met my sister and her family at the hotel and finished with them all around DC. A 3 hour tour turned into 6 hours because we were having so much fun and Jeff is always so easy to be around. You just want more. We cannot recommend him high enough for anyone looking for a fulfilling family friendly activity in the DC area.

Thank you for the extremely kind words, for hiring me again, and for letting me show you around the monuments and memorials with your sister and family. It really is a remarkable time to explore and the bikes make it so easy to get around and I'm delighted we got to cover so much ground. I'll hope to see you all again next Father's Day!

Jeff's tour of DC, that focused on the past and present water management of Washington DC was a wonderful way to spend an afternoon - and, despite having lived in SW DC for many years, I learned a lot about my neighborhood and even discovered some monuments and locations I've never seen before! Jeff is well prepared and knows his craft - a perfectly planned trip. I recommend this to anyone as a great way to spend an afternoon.
