Regardless of your views of the Vietnam War, this memorial strips away the politics and leaves a stark reminder of the many lives tragically lost by the veterans of the conflict. It is a somber experience that any American in Washington must experience.

This is the 4th time I have visited this memorial. It is such a moving experience to think of all those who died in the war. I hope they know how much we appreciate their service to our country.

It was a beautiful afternoon and we walked through the park and past the wall of lost souls. Hard to imagine all these people gave their lives for their country. And what an amazing way to honor them. Please visit.

What can you say about this monument that hasn't been said. My wife had a cousin who died in Vietnam and whose name is displayed here and that alone was worth the visit.

The Vietnam Veterans Wall is the most emotional memorial in DC. You can’t miss this on your visit to town.

A moving memorial to see the names of all those killed in the Vietnam War. It is personal, as people search for those they knew. My husband’s high school buddy, Andrew Bordes from Carpentersville, IL, and Larry Warnock, my Sunday School teacher’s son, from Buffalo,...More

Be aware that at both entrances to the memorial wall are books with an alphabetical listing of all the names on the wall with the panel and position of their name.

It is very hard to give a review of a very long wall with so many dead soldiers listed on it. Heartbreaking and sobering

We have all heard the numbers of the fallen but to see numbers by name hits in a profound way. This is a very quiet place for all to digest what you are seeing. It is a simply designed memorial which makes it all the...More

If you are just looking at this one memorial it will not take more than 20-30 minutes. However the memorials are all very close and in walking distance.

I think the Vietnam memorial is between the Foggy Bottom (GWU) and Smithsonian metro stops.
