Beautiful, historic, US treasure. The views of the Reading Room and its gorgeous dome are a must see. In this day of digital information and lack of appreciation for REAL paper books, you'll be blown away.

The Library of Congress is located just behind the United States Capital building so there is no excuse to not walking over a having a look. It will be worth it.

As with many places in DC they're worth seeing if for no other reason than the incredible architectural designs. This place is stunningly beautiful.

This is an absolutely gorgeous building, full of symbolism (and books, of course). There is a 40-minute tour, free, that begins with a short informational video, and then an expert guide takes you to see the highlights; instead of just wandering around, you can learn...More

I took some Brazilian friends, and they were in awe of the ambiance, the architecture, the simple yet imposing beauty as well as the history of the place. A must stop especially if you are visiting the Capitol.

Beautiful building and worth seeing. What I didn't realize: -you wait on line to get a glimpse of the main beautiful room but you are behind glass one level up and you have just a small area to walk in. I thought we would get...More

It amazes me that these large building were built with all the marble/granite. Learning about the building itself is interesting, for example the "puttis" or babies in the hall around the steps, look close they all have a different occupation. Gutenberg bible on display

An excellent choice to see a world class library. The tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable. The high light of the tour for me was seeing one of the three volumes of the Gutenburg Bible on display.

I agree, 90 minutes to 2 hours is a good time frame to put aside, that would give you enough time to either tour on your own or take a guided tour, plus have time to look around on your own if you do decide to do the tour... More

There are some places you cannot take pictures. Eg: the center round room where you can do research. I am sure it has a name, but I can't remember it. It was so beautiful inside and I wanted to take a picture. I asked the... More
