The building itself is magnificent, built when government buildings were meant to express the grandeur of the government. As our docent explained, this place expressed in stone, sculpture and painting, the value we should place on learning and knowledge. Symbolism of wisdom, learning, and democracy...More

It is an out of body experience to see the intricate architecture in this beautiful historic library.

Jefferson Hall is beautiful. The architecture is amazing. This is where the Gutenberg Bible and the Giant Bible are displayed. It is totally worth your time to visit this hall. We took the tunnel from the Capitol Building after our tour there to access the...More

My plan was to enter, see the pretty architecture, snap some pictures, and leave...but 2-3 hours later I was finally making my way out. There was much more to see than just the gorgeous interior including influential historical books, maps, and Thomas Jefferson's personal library....More

We have been to DC many times but never visited here. Wow were we impressed. The architecture was amazing - everyone should visit just to see the interior. Exhibits were very good as well. We will come back when we gave more time to look.

Library of Congress has more than one building, I've been in main one, next to Capitol and is very Monumental. Builded in epic beautiful way, where everyone can get space to sit and find something to read.

I wish I'd had more time here, but even so, it was a great place to visit. There's just so much to see here, so much history...made me wish I had another week to spend just seeing these places.

We would not have visited the Library of Congress had our tour guide at the Capitol not suggested it, but it was by far the most spectacular visit we visited in DC. The architecture and the detail were beyond amazing. The Gutenberg bible and the...More

It is connected to the Capitol visitor's center by tunnel, which makes it an easy stop in this area of DC to see. I do not feel it is worth a visit on its own. The exception might be if you sign up for a...More

I would plan 2-3 hours so as not to rush. The tour guides seem very good. My cousin works there so she took us around herself. Much more than a library!!

I agree, 90 minutes to 2 hours is a good time frame to put aside, that would give you enough time to either tour on your own or take a guided tour, plus have time to look around on your own if you do decide to do the tour... More
