I feel like everyone should walk around the national mall at least once in their life if they live in the US and have the means for travel. It's such an iconic and memorable experience. I've been here a few times and I still get excited about seeing the monument. It's nice and cool inside the memorial, a good place... More

Lincoln Memorial is a musty see for any visitor. There is very little parking close by during the week. On Sunday, parking is much easier to find. It is very close to the Vietnam and Korean Memorials. The World War II Memorial is about a 15 minute walk away.

The Lincoln Memorial at dusk is exactly what you think of when you visit our nation's Capital. On a calm evening, the reflecting pool is stellar and the views up and down the pool are wonderful. People are by and large very reverent inside the Memorial. It's extremely photogenic at night. There are TWO drawbacks to the experience: the endless... More

The pool needs to be cleaned as the end by the WWII memorial was very scummy. Probably a budget cut result. The weather was hot and humid so we really enjoyed the benches in the shade.

This is definitely not the place to go if crowds are not your thing. I went in the afternoon and yes, it was hot. Started up the stairs and I had to be very careful not to step on anyone (people hang out on the steps whether standing, sitting or sleeping). Lots of people on the inside also, there's an... More

The Lincoln Memorial is one of the District's many monuments and is arguably the travelers' favorite. There is a gorgeous water fountain across the monument right a the end of the large pool. This place is simply BEAUTIFUL!!!

In the 1960's my father would pack all of the kids in the wagon and on July 4th, we'd head down to sit on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial to view the fireworks. To this day, it is the most beautiful place to view the Fireworks. Besides July 4th, the memorial still brings me to tears. It's sheer beauty,... More

It's free and open for anyone willing to walk up the steps. The Emancipation Proclamation on the wall is almost as impressive as Mr. Lincoln himself. The view of the Washington Monument reflecting off the water is also amazing.
