Lincoln Memorial is awesome

Loved this awesome statue of Lincoln. His speeches are carved on the walls as a legacy to his presidency.

I've been here several times each one never disappoints, sat in the capital of the USA is this magnificent man looking over the Mall proud in his achievement as if he'd planned this seat all along. I've been to the Lincoln Memorial before, decades ago, but this time as we arrived a band was playing below the plaza. I decided to wait till I had seen the monument to investigate but they were gone by then. Still, it added to the aura of the place. I've got to go at dawn or twilight on my next... More

Few people visit anything but the front steps and entrance of the Memorial. You're missing something special if you don't walk the marble, columned, elevated path that surrounds the Lincoln Memorial once you hit the top of the stairs. Bring a picnic and sit on the backside facing the Potomac and Arlington Cemetery. You'll feel a million miles away from... More

Lincoln and the reflection pool never disappoint. Be prepared to walk a lot of steps to get up to see Lincoln. I'm not sure if there is access for those that cannot climb steps.

Lincoln Memorial is huge, make sure you go inside to see 2 of his speeches. Was a good time to go even though it was hot that day and probably the most crowded of the memorials. Good hint, there is a rest room at the base, not many of them in the area. Reflecting pond is also beige than I... More

Must see, even better at sunrise when there's no one around, than during the day when it gets fairly crowded.
