    Under construction, but still open.
You can see this memorial from the Mall. To visit it though, it's easier to drive to a nearby parking lot off Ohio Drive and to walk to it from there. I did not see any handicapped parking near the memorial itself, but I don't need handicapped parking, so I did not scope it out first. If it's something you need, check in advance. The nearest parking lot I mentioned is a bit of a walk to the Jefferson Memorial. There was construction going on when I visited, but the memorial was still accessible, via stairs surrounding the entrance. I think there is a ramp nearby, but I am not sure. At the top of the stairs, Jefferson's Memorial consists of a rotunda with a bigger than life statue of him in the center. As you enter, on the left is a small, but interesting gift shop. The restrooms are in trailers in a lot on the other side of the building, and although they are in trailers, they have ramps, are kept spotless by a dedicated cleaning crew, and have flush toilets. There is a sidewalk that follows I-395. As you get to the top of the small hill, there are steps going down to the sidewalk that takes you back under I-395, and to the parking lot off Ohio Drive. If you want to also see George Mason's Memorial, then take the long way around, from Basin Drive to the junction of Ohio Drive. His memorial is set back from the sidewalk on that "corner."

    A stately memorial
Beautifully situated on the riverfront and majestic when you approach it. It was surprising to me that this memorial was only erected in 1943. Jefferson’s quotations adorn the walls and his statue looms over you. It is undoubtedly one of the more stately memorials. I believe the current construction works are in order to provide a step-free entrance. There is also a small gift shop.

    Use DC Circulator Bus
If you’re looking for public transportation options don’t do what I did and try to walk from L’Enfant metro station. Inconvenient and not lovely. Gave up. Walkway was not clear. The next day, my bus ride and metro ride into the city dropped me at the Smithsonian Metro station. I got off the metro and took the DC circulator bus towards the Lincoln Memorial by the Smithsonian museums. That bus took me straight to the Jefferson Memorial. Because my ride to the Jefferson Memorial and my pick up back to that same location was all within the two hours of when I first tapped my smart trip card on my first bus for the morning, I didn’t have to pay anything extra. It was free because it was all within two hours. Then I spent the rest of my time on foot before taking the metro and bus back to my hotel. I would definitely recommend the DC circulator bus to get to the Jefferson Memorial.

    A Truly Special Spot
This is one of the most iconic monuments in Washington and it looks over the Tidal Basin and is a beautiful spot to be able to see the cherry blossoms. One can fairly easily walk to the seafood market near the wharf and enjoy fresh seafood out of a bag sitting just outside the monument. There are plenty of places to sit and gaze up at the awe inspiring edifice. Also picnic lunches or dinners are great for this as well. It's nice to go in the evening as the sun goes down and to see the monument in the day and the light. It's location is really special, so if planning to go there see how you can make your trip extra special by enjoying more time with the monument with a packed meal, or smuggling a little wine or champagne 😉

My favorite of all the monuments in D.C., or anywhere for that matter
Everything comes together to make this the most moving of all our monuments. The location, the architecture, the layout, statue, and most of all, the great words inscribed into all that beautiful marble. The magnificence can actually be overwhelming. I recommend going at night as reading the great quotes unlight gives the whole experience a little extra glow. If anyone says they have limited time and asks me which sights they should narrow down to, I always say the Jefferson Memorial is the one you absolutely must not miss.

One of my favorite memorials in DC
The Jefferson memorial features a 19 ft statue of Thomas Jefferson, centered in a large open-air rotunda situated on the edge of the Tidal Basin. There are quotes on the walls from the Declaration of Independence and other writings. It is in a beautiful setting, with great views of the tidal basin and various other locations in DC. I especially liked the views of the Washington Monument, across the Tidal Basin. This was one of my favorite memorials in DC.

    Most Beautiful Memorial
The Jefferson Memorial is one of the most beautiful memorials (in my opinion) in DC. It is perched high next to Tidal Basin with great views of the basin, the Washington Monument, and a direct shot of the a White House. When I went there in April, it was beautiful (even without the cherry blossoms, since there was no cherry blossoms when I went). I highly recommend visiting the Jefferson Memorial.

Grandiose memorial of a great president!
At the opposite end of the Tidal Basin from Martin Luther King Jr's Memorial is the Jefferson Memorial. The steps were a great place to rest after walking around the basin. During our time of visit, there was a renovation going on, and it did not impact the memorial itself visually, so it's still nice to take pictures of it.

One of the bucket list monuments
I have been to DC a number of times over the years, but Jefferson doesn't always make it on the return list every time due to being out of the way from the others on the mall. We had electric scooters this time and were touring with my 13 y.o. son and made the short trip out there on the scooters. The place is truly beautiful with the tidal pond and the quiet (other than tour groups). At night, it is even better.

Resting by the Potomac river, you can easily get here on a guided tour by bus like I did, but it's not too far from other iconic parts of Washington DC such as the Washington monument and the Lincoln memorial. Once you enter the memorial you'll find a large circular room, at the centre of which stands a huge black statue of Thomas Jefferson, the Third president of the United states. On the four walls surrounding the statue are written some of his most famous quotes, the most famous of which is the quote from his most famous work, the Declaration of independence. 'We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal.' Underneath that room rests a small museum describing his life from his upbringing in Monticello in the south to his involvement in America being founded and his time as president. Remember to be quiet and respectful, taking photos is fine but you can be arrested for things such as dancing by the statue so be careful. The building looks like something from ancient Greece, like the Lincoln memorial and you get a lovely view of the river on a sunny day, so make sure you check the weather before you go.

We saw from the interstate that the monument is having work done, particularly the roof. There is scaffolding all around it yet you can go inside. Traveling at this time of year was to almost have these open monuments void of the typical crowds.
This monument is quite a distance from the others but worth the effort to get here. We had no trouble with parking, again due to the time of year of this visit ~ cold weather, I recommend you dress warm and wear comfortable shoes.
One thing a little frustrating was the signs for the shop / museum underneath the statue that indicated it was open but it was not. Per the times posted clearly on the door, it should have been opened. No one in sight!? We were able to use the restroom facilities as they were not locked. Later we saw a park ranger on the steps speaking to a couple but I have no idea where she came from.

Beautiful and amazing in size. Saw it both lit up at night, and during the day. It was very crowded (summer time); would hope off season would bring smaller or less crowds. People were considerate and did get their photos then step aside to let others to the same.

Having been to Jefferson Memorial before I still couldn’t miss a chance to visit it again as my stay in DC provided me with some free time.
Notwithstanding the fact that they are doing restoration work on the cupola and the roof and the outside of the building is covered in scaffolding and the outside doesn’t look as magnificent as usually, the place is full of the feeling of grandeur and awe.
The inside is as impressive as ever and the presence of the great man is almost palpable. This being off season, I happened to be entirely alone there and it was such a great feeling as if I was listening to Jefferson reading out his words that are captured there on the panels.
This memorial appears to me to be a deserving tribute to one of the greatest minds not only of his time but rather of all times.

The Jefferson Memorial is a monument in Washington DC dedicated to Thomas Jefferson, one of the Founding Fathers of the United States and the author of the Declaration of Independence. It is located on the banks of the Tidal Basin and is surrounded by beautiful cherry blossom trees.

Taking a walk in the morning around the Jefferson Memorial can be a peaceful and inspiring experience. The monument is open 24 hours a day, so visitors can enjoy the serene setting at any time of day.

In the morning, the sunlight reflects off the water of the Tidal Basin, creating a beautiful and calming atmosphere. The cherry blossom trees, which bloom in the spring, are especially stunning at this time of day and provide a lovely backdrop for the monument.

The monument itself is an impressive structure, with a domed roof and white marble columns. Inside, there is a bronze statue of Thomas Jefferson, and the walls are inscribed with passages from the Declaration of Independence and other famous quotes from Jefferson.

The Jefferson Memorial is a very special monument in Washington D.C. It was built to remember Thomas Jefferson, who was an important leader in America a long time ago. When you visit the monument, you'll see a big dome and a statue of Jefferson inside. You can also read some of the things that he said on the walls inside the monument. It's really beautiful to see, especially in the spring when there are cherry blossoms around.

A lot of people like to go to the Jefferson Memorial, but sometimes it can be really crowded, especially when lots of tourists are visiting. It's also hard to find a place to park your car nearby, so it's a good idea to plan ahead. You can take a bus or a taxi to get there instead of driving yourself.

The day we went to visit there was construction around a large part of the monument but you could still walk up the steps and into the dome. The steps can be a little slippery and the wind can be strong in the middle but the monument is beautiful. If you go, you'll see other cool places nearby too, like the Lincoln Memorial and the National Mall.

Overall, the Jefferson Memorial is a really neat place to visit. It's great for people who like history or buildings, and it's also very pretty. You can learn a lot about the past and feel proud to be an American.

A beautiful memorial and serene surroundings. It was under construction for roof refurbishment when we were there, but you can still go inside and look around. The DC Circulator buses were not running, so we parked in the closest pay lot. It is a bit of a walk, but was the closest available parking.

The Jefferson Memorial is a lovely building and a fitting tribute to Jefferson. It's a short walk from The Washington Monument or The WWII Memorial and as such, it's definitely less visited than some of the other memorials/monuments. The memorial has a neoclassical architecture and the architect took inspiration from Jefferson's designs for UVA/Monticello and The Pantheon in Rome, the latter of which is very easy to see. It's a peaceful area and very nice to visit even outside of the Cherry Blossom festival. There was construction when we came here on Memorial Day Weekend, but it was still a lovely place to visit and I highly recommend that you come here when you're in D.C.!
