A good experience, but needed more time to explore Mount Vernon. We appreciated that our guide was willing to drop us off in Alexandria on the way back to DC. We wanted to learn more there & we found our own way back to DC when finished.

The driver, Bobby, was vulgar, predjuiced and anti-government. He particularly liked the word for a female dog. We made NO stops in Old Town Alexandria - which I was told was part of the tour. He made anti-white, anti President Trump jokes. I did not pay to hear political commentary or vulgar name calling for folks he does not like. This tour group will not get my business again and I suggest all to look for a different tour to Mount Vernon.

Mount Vernon is one of the true jewels of the DC area to visit!! It gives people such a great view of our first President's home. There was a special bi-annual re-enactment day the day we toured and it added a additional level of feeling that we might have been there in the day that Washington lived there. So glad that the Ladies group that restored Washington's home and saved it took on that responsibility for us to be able to see his home and grounds. Our guide, Saul, was very nice, and did a great job taking us to and from the estate, as well as to Alexandria, where we saw The church Washington attended(as well as his family box), his intern home, and other parts of Alexandria. He was also a great driver on our tour!!!

Do not take this tour. This is a scam. We were just on this tour with my family and what a disappointment. The amount of money paid for this did not meet our expectations. We drove right through the old town and when we got to Mt Vernon we were handed the same tickets as everyone there. Our tour guide did not assist with the tour on the grounds what so ever. Could have done this ourselves.

Took this trip to Mt Vernon on 7-19.18.We (10 travelers) were picked up by a van without any signage on the outside only way to id the tour was because the driver had a polo with the name of a tour company, however the printout we had did not have any name as a refeence. The van is super small and the seats are really narrow. Conditions with normal travelers are cramped, but on this trip there were 2 heavy set travelers carrying large backpacks, so it was really bad,The driver drives real fast so you feel every single bump each way. Very uncomfortable. Our driver (quide?) did not go in with us inside Mt. Vernon, stop at Alexandria was to the church were the guide there talked to us about the Church. Alexandria tour was really non-existent.

We did not like this tour at all. Although the "guide" was knowledge of landmarks he shared many of his political thoughts and his comments had a racial undertone, we learned more about who had slaves and who didn't andThats NOT what we paid for.. We didn't care for his personal political opinions. We also didn't care for the fact that as soon as we were dropped off in the street in front of Arlington Cemetery we were literally on our own to get back to the hotel. We were told to take public transportation back. Seriously??? We paid for a 5 hour tour and what we got was you have ten minutes.. really ten minutes to see the NAVAL MUSEUM, you have ten minutes for the Vietnam Memorial, ten minutes for Lincoln Memorial. What happened to our lunch at the Mall?? It didnt happen we were told you can get something to eat at this little building but guess what you have ten minutes. We felt abandoned. We didnt go to Arlington first we went last so that the driver/tour guide didn't have to take us back to where we were picked up.Also our "tour" was combined with another group who didn't choose to go to Arlington but they got taken back to the hotel. It was terrible. Not what was described. And not professional at all. The "guide" never got out of the van as stated we were supposed to have a guided walking tour.. We expected a more professional tour for our money and will not recommend this tour to anyone. Not s described at all I requested my money back

Our van driver, Leroy, finally showed up at the hotel 45 minutes late. He was wearing a heavy dose of cologne and when I committed on it, he said that he sprayed a lot on because he passed gas. He made statements that really weren’t appropriate for a tour guide, but our teenaged boys thought his talk about farting was hysterical! Other than the four of us, there was one young couple who sat alone in the back and didn’t seem interested in the tour at all. When he parked in an empty lot to tell us about what we were going to see, I became suspicious and asked my daughter if he seemed drunk. She said no. She thought he was high on drugs. We only saw half the places he talked about and were back at the hotel an hour earlier than the tour advertised.

I have very mixed feelings about this tour. First of all the bus arrived about 40 minutes late because of traffic. The tour guide Charles was very good. He gave us a great deal of information. The trip to Old Alexandria seemed long with lots of traffic and some sitting still but he was good about giving us information during that time.
Mt Vernon was very nice. It seemed a little crowded and I thought that the information in the actual mansion was a little weak. The museum was very good and I wished that I had spent more time there. There was a lot of information to read.
Just as we went to the tomb there were 2 men who where active Army who wanted to lay wreath at the tomb of George Washington. The workers opened the gates of the tomb and allowed them to go inside and place the wreath while photos were taken. One of the workers dressed in period attire played the fife. He played the national anthem as we sang. He had the soldiers sign their Army song and he played taps. It was moving.
Our tour was supposed to end at 4:30, but again because of traffic and a mix up with the driver getting a different bus, the bus was late and it took longer than expected to get back. At 6 o'clock (1.5 hours late) we still were not back to our drop off spot. Because we were going to miss our dinner reservations, Charles allowed us to get off the bus at a different spot.

Myself and another lady on the van (and who knows who else) both thought we were going to "stop" at a few locations in Old Town Alexandria from the way the "description" is written, but all we did was drive through and the driver pointed out a few places. The driver was very nice but we were disappointed we didn't stop. The visit at Mount Vernon was too short, we did not have enough time to see everything, especially since we had to wait in the "mansion tour" line for about 1/2 an hour. So if you want to see everything in one trip, you might want to get there when they open at 9:00 am. If you're into history, this is a very interesting place to visit! We loved it here, but will have to go back. The restaurant looked lovely, but didn't have time to eat there. Wonderful place to visit!
