- RBonTheLakeYork, South Carolina661 contributionsFavorite hike near Moab - including Arches Nat'l Park HikesWhy this hike isn’t rated THE best around Moab is beyond me. It’s about 5 miles round trip and you see absolutely gorgeous views most of the way. And the top is 360 degrees of pure beauty. We started out early (7:45ish) and spent about an hour at the top with nobody else to bother us. On the way back we encountered quite a few people on their way up. There’s a good deal of elevation with stunning views around each bend. This was by far our favorite hike.Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 18, 2023
- Previa1994Chicago, Illinois6,652 contributionsMagnificient TowersFisher Towers near Moab is an awesome geologic feature quite different from the arches in Arches National Park.  The cathedral-like looking towers are visible from the scenic byway (Route 128). Getting to the trailhead requires 2+ miles of driving on a dirt road which is manageable in a regular car.  The 2+ mile hiking trail has many ups-and-downs as it climbs up to a great viewing point at a hilltop. There is a short ladder to navigate about midway point on the trail; it is easily manageable. The trail is very easy to follow and the views all along the trail are magnificent.  Fisher Towers is, for sure, worth the drive from Moab; even the drive itself is beautiful. ÂVisited November 2023Traveled soloWritten December 21, 2023
- DontStopExploringWinnipeg, Canada2,198 contributionsFisher TowersWas a cool morning and thought we’d take advantage of it. Fisher Towers is a spectacular hike. Lots of scrambling, stone stairs and exposure. Is difficult if you have bad knees especially coming back. Would highly recommend poles if you have. Beautiful views all around.Visited May 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten May 21, 2024
- Martin CCaracas, Venezuela13 contributionsMagnificent Fisher Towers! We drove up to the base of the Fisher Towers in the late afternoon which was perfect viewing time for photos. There’s a camp site and toilet there close to the path to walk to below the towers themselves which are magnificent. I was particularly interested in droning the towers which I managed to do and am pleased with the results. A small group of hikers returned saying it had taken them about two hours to circuit to the base of the big boy at the back. Great place!Visited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 13, 2024

The trailhead is a bit of a drive from Moab (approx. 35 minutes), but well worth it. The parking lot is small, but we arrived at about 7:30 and there was no problem. By the time we left it was full, but it is possible to park along the access road. We generally dislike driving on dirt roads, but the dirt turnoff from 128 was only 2 miles and not terribly rutted. The hike was beautiful and not difficult, but a good workout. There is a ladder that goes down about 1.5 miles from the beginning, but it was not bad--easier going up on the way back. It was a fairly warm day, so we appreciated that the rock cliffs provide shade if you do the hike early in the day. We went the wrong way about 15 minutes into the outbound because we missed a left turn where the trail heads steeply downward. Instead, we continued straight because there were cairns and lots of footprints going in that direction, and no one else hiking at that time. It must have been a common mistake, given the footprints, but it took a while before what looked like the trail petered out. Going the wrong way and finding our way back took us an extra hour. If we had downloaded a trail map from Alltrails or a similar app, we could have avoided going so far afield.

Very cool red rock formations and wide open views of the Colorado River Valley. There is a 2.4 mile trail but we only made it half a mile as it was very difficult in the ice and snow. There are also some scary drop offs. Definitely not for the faint of heart. Even going that short distance the scenery was incredible and worth the effort. I recommend wearing spikes if there is snow or ice.

This is an awesome hike! Definitely at the same level as the Corona Arch hike. I have hiked extensively in the area and in the nearby national parks...and this would be in my top 5. Get there early to get a parking spot at the trailhead, to avoid the heat, and to avoid crowds. We got there at about 7 in the morning and it was awesome hiking up. Only met one other group. The towers are spectacular. The trail is more strenuous than we thought, but not bad. It goes up and down a lot, and then up quit a bit. At this time of year there were lots of blooming wildflowers along the way. Wow! I didn't realize how steep it was until we hiked back down. Great trail...easy to follow. Probably not good for little children as there are some steep drop offs. Beautiful views from the top/end of the trail on both sides of the crest. We enjoyed peace and quiet for just a few minutes at the top before lots of hikers started to catch up and make it touristy and noisy. By the time we got back to the trailhead, the parking lot was full and cars were parked for about a hundred yards down the road. I'd say our timing all around was just about right.

We hiked in Arches and canyonland but this was our favorite. It said allow 4 hours to top and back down but we did it in 2.5 with many stops. The best part is it isn’t straight up and then back down but meandering canyons. The view is just as beautiful along the way as it is from the top so you can go as far as you want and turn around. You won’t be disappointed!

Having stopped off for a picnic here, we only did a small part of the trail, the weather had turned & we felt it was the better part of valour to retreat. fantastic range of rocks to enjoy. Highly recommended. In addition the drive to or from Moab is quite spectacular in its own right too. Well worth a visit.

First, you can enjoy a 20-mile scenic drive on Hwy 191 to the Fisher Tower trailhead! (The 1+mile dirt road off of the highway to the parking lot is, unfortunately, very rough and bumpy!) But don't let that stop you. This trail is awesome!! Beautiful views all around, red rock spires at your side, mountains in the distance, and lots of switchbacks. The hike is a moderate out and back, with fabulous views from both directions!

This was a fantastic hike! Our group thought it was the best one after hiking multiple parks for a week. We did it in the day and night. Everywhere we looked, we saw gigantic towers and rock formations. The summit has a spectacular view of mountains on one side and the Colorado River on the other. The sunset was beautiful and the sky is a certified dark sky. We could see the Milky Way Galaxy at night.

If you are in Moab, take the time to drive down scenic highway 128 at least as far as Fisher Tower. This stunning red rock tower was made famous in many old west movies. It is also famous for rock climbers! The scenery is stunning and not to be missed, especially at sunset!

1. How busy is this trail? Alltrails says heavily, if you go early or late is it possible to see few others?
2. How wide is the trail? Is there room to step off to let others pass?

WE hiked Fishers Tower in July. We started in the morning to beat the heat. We saw about 10 people in 4 hours. It was a perfect hike
