While visiting friends, we took a trip to a part of the Brazos River. It was an education as well as fun! It seems that eons ago, dinosaurs lived/traveled through the area. There are even footprints shown in nearby museums. We found fossils of snails & also a tiny fossilized fang of some kind of creature. While we were there, a couple of people were searching the area for dinosaur prints because there was evidence that there had been activity in that specific area. I never knew we actually had this kind of creature living in our country. We also visited the Chisolm Trail which was under some renovation & spoke with the staff about the pioneering days, hardships, governing law & punishments, etc. While I was pretty good in history & geography, I learned so much more just being able to see it & hear from the local citizens things you just don't read in books.
