Ceremonially significant butte to indigenous folks outside Sturgis, S.D.

Interesting place to go if in the area. Nice place to go for hike but can get hot so make sure to take water bottle with you. Not very touristy but nice for photography... read more

Interesting place to go if in the area. Nice place to go for hike but can get hot so make sure to take water bottle with you. Not very touristy but nice for photography opportunities especially at sunrise or sunset.

Located near The Buffalo Chip, Best Butte is considered to be sacred grounds. There is a hiking trail to the summit and thats about it.

Bear Butte State Park Trail is a 3.6 mile out and back. The trail is level and there are wooden stairs and a deck at the top. This is a steep climb is some areas but there are a couple of benches to rest along the trail. There is no shade. You will see prayer flags tied in the scrub... More
