We live about 2 hours away from Lake Jocassee and have several other lakes that are closer but, being TVA lakes, are murkier and have clay and shale shorelines. Lake Jocassee was stunning with beautiful, clear water and sandy, private coves that felt much more like the natural lakes one finds in the northern part of the country. We enjoyed... More

We just visited here on one of the busiest weekends of the year, Sunday July 3rd, and we would still go for 15 minutes without seeing other boats. I believe there are less than 50 houses built along the shore. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking being in the foothills. The water is the cleanest I have seen in a lake--I... More

Water level was high this year so launching from the boat ramp was easier. Lake is big so even when there are a lot of boats, you can find plenty of open spaces. Very few houses so the view is trees and mountains. Bring food and drinks.

One of the most beautiful lakes in SC, set in the far northwest part of the state. Day access through Devils Fork State Park. Once your boat is in the water, you are in for a treat. Not very congested and spectacular views. Water sports and fishing. Beautiful coves and waterfalls.

The lake is a great place to hang out. They have boat rentals for all budgets. The views are amazing and over all a must see. Well worth the cheap park fee. I believe it's on the National Geographic list of most beautiful places in the world.

Stocked with Bass and Trout every year it is a fisherman's paradise. The area is remote but close to both Asheville and Greenville South Carolina. Boaters paradise , too. Very rugged country for hiking. The Foothills trail reaches part of this are as well. Only like 30 homes on this lake with only a few more that can be built.... More

Lake Jocassee is an absolute gem. It's a Great Lake kayak on. There are miles of pristine shoreline and abundant wildlife. My favorite lake for kayaking.

My wife and I have been traveling up to Lake Jocassee for the past 20 years. We never tire of taking in the scenic beauty this area offers to visitors. Getting out on the water to view the waterfalls is a must and a joyous experience. Accommodation reservations should be made in advance to avoid disappointment. Early Spring or Autumn... More

We accessed the lake through Devil's Fork State Park. The fee was $2 per person. We went on labor day, there was plenty of parking at the ramp. I was pleasantly surprised that there were very few motorized boats on the lake. The water was extremely clean. There are water falls that fall into the lake and they are beautiful.... More
