We have a boat on Catawba Island, but will drive over to East Harbor to get a nice 3-mile walk in on weekdays. The view is awesome and the paved, walker-friendly paths make it easy to burn a few calories. We tend to avoid the crowds at East Harbor beach and, instead, head to the east parking lot and take... We have stayed numerous times and every experience is better than the previous. The camping hosts are incredible! The sites are the best we've experienced, clean, spacious established shade trees. The facilities, shower houses, laundry area and restrooms are spotless all the time...they have so many things to experience outdoors...trails for biking, hiking, jogging.. beautiful beach, picnic areas!

One of the nicest state park camp grounds I have been to large lots, and very clean. Easy trails, many deer and birds. Enjoyed talking to the deer dude who feeds the deer every morning.

We had a great weekend stay at the campground, which is huge! Sites were clean and generally spacious, although ours had a tree which prevented us putting out our awning. Bathrooms and showers were nice and clean. Camp store had lots of camping necessities, clothing, and ice cream! We walked and rode our bikes everywhere! Only a couple miles to... More

We arrived late on a Friday evening before Labor Day. The place was quiet, everyone either asleep, or enjoying their evening quietly. We set up, relaxed a bit, enjoying the beautiful starlit sky, then hit the hay. The balance of our trip consisted of enjoying the beach, walking trails, and a day trip to a nearby island, Put In Bay.... More

My family and I came to the beach at East Harbor State Park in the late afternoon just so the kids could he into the water for a bit. The beach was nice and clean. There was a sign posted to warn patrons that bacteria levels in the water were high but that didn't seem to stop anyone else so... More

We really enjoyed our stay at east harbor state park. We have a 35ft travel trailer and stayed in site B131 (full hookup). Our first impression of that site was, wow that doesn't look deep enough for our trailer. It was. we found out later that 2 of the 4 parking spaces adjacent to the site belong to that site.... More

Lovely clean sandy beach. Beautiful setting. Plenty of picnic tables along border of beach, good showers and changing room. The water stays at a 2 foot depth seemingly forever - great for wading, not swimming. And free. Reminds one of how important good state parks are. (Total contrast to beach at our cottage a few miles away - icky mud... More

The park is very nice. However fishing in designated area is near impossible. Lily pads !!! The park lacks are weather warning/lightening detection system.
