This is a spectacular river. Very beautiful and offers lots of activities, to wit: white wafter rafting plus you can ride the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad tourist train along the river gorge. Even if you don't do any of those things, it's really pretty to look at. One of the most scenic rivers have seen in a while. Really enjoyed our drive along this river on U.S. 74. Is a goal of mine to return and ride the Nantahala Gorge excursion train ride of the Great Smoky Mountains RR to see more of this beautiful river.

We stopped at the river for a while during a long drive to elsewhere. It's like a hidden treasure in the NC mountains and is an incredibly beautiful, peaceful spot. Even in mid-July, down by the river was surprisingly cool. Could have stayed here for days and hope to do so soon.

What a great rafting trip our group of 8 had. One of our team fell out of the boat. And I don't know how little Michael S. got him back in the boat. Great Job!! SUPER FUN TIME. THANKS CHRISTO & MICHAEL.

From signing waivers to washing your own pfd, the entire trip was rushed. If you want a theme park like experience of being herded down the river as fast as possible, choose NOC. If you are the person who wants to escape a busy schedule to have a relaxing time on the river do yourself a favor and go with a smaller rafting outfitter.

Although I would have highly recommended the professionalism and the corporate structure of the NOC as opposed to other less funded companies around this company and although we thoroughly enjoyed the guides, the experiences of the two rivers we did with the NOC, I do not recommend trying to get someone to care should you encounter a "problem" as they do not return phone calls nor do they do anything to rectify issues! We had a wonderful time doing the "duck" canoe boats on day one with our family members (6) on the Natahala and then (9) the next day on the YELLOW rafts on the Chattooga--do the math, we spent almost $1200.00 including the pictures and video. THE ISSUE--No where do they disclaim that the yellow rafts will discolor your clothing and that even bleach, nor any type of detergents take out the yellow off your clothes. I had just purchased new $42 board shorts (white w/ strips) and at the end of the day, it appeared that I may have needed Depends underwear. They are ruined. I called repeatedly to no avail as Regina nor even the Director of Sales-Jay Currven cared to compensate me or quite frankly-return calls or emails. Out of principal, I asked them to make others aware of this issue-as the guides all had "yellow" discolored shirts, aware of the problem and told me that the stains would not come out so why doesn't the NOC put something on the website? Why not let us know? TOO BAD as I am in charge of a large sales organization and we are coming to that area for a meeting where I even requested information from Jay-Director of Sales and never received. $1200--$42.....loss of income. Glad you are so big and corporate that you don't need the business, but I do hope you let others know that they should wear DARK swim wear so that others do not encounter the same.
