First time fly fishing and an awesome experience. This outfitter is Orvis approved and for good reason. Our guide Robbie (new guy) was fantastic! And the bonus was his dog Boomer. You will get a trout and you will get lots of sun and a few bugs but the experience will also get you hooked on fly fishing. If you have the time do a full day, four hours is a tease. Note: pack a good lunch as you will drive back to Aztec or Bloomfield to get a good meal. If heading to Bloomfield go to Serious Texas BBQ!!!

So, you've heard about the San Juan. Lots of big bows, a few awesome browns. Tailwater, driftboat, tiny nymph rigs, you don't care about nightlife other than comparing fishing with the other guys around the picnic table over cocktails. Then you will love fisheads. We fished with the lodge owner the first day and one of his crack (not the drug, but close) guides the next. We did great. Consistently 16-18" with some nice 20" and a couple of 23+ inch with photographic proof. You will like it. Don't bring waders, then you don't have to worry about bringing back whirling diesease, etc., from the lakewater's invertebrates. Just enjoy the float.

Except when NMDGF stocks 14000 fingerlings. This trip (Feb 6 2015) was "small trout city". I probably tied into only two that were the usual average of 18". Oh well.

We had heard good things and we always fish with the Orvis endorsed people. This time there was a misunderstanding and we were unable to fish. Chris was understanding and he and his staff helped us make another plan. We will definitely give it another try next summer!

My saved for a year to take my son trout fishing out west. The San Juan river was recommended and much more affordable than Yellowstone. We chose www.sanjuanriverguides.com for our adventure and it was amazing. Leonard was very helpful and accommodating and went out of his way to make my son's trip a trip of a lifetime.
