Love this! Glad it is high up so people are not climbing all over it and probably knock it down. It is located near the east entrance of Valley of Fire. Park in the large parking lot and hike to it. It is very close to the road, but they do not want you to walk on the road as many cars whiz on by.
You could even see this from the road, but it is much better to park and hike up to it. Definitely an elephant! No mistake.

You can get to it by walking along the road a bit. We followed a trail to make a loop out of it. Not a long one though. We climbed to the other side of the elephant since people were saying the pictures were better from that side. Worth a visit if you are passing by.

Elephant Rock is definitely worth a stop if you are visiting the Valley of Fire State Park. It was a short 10 minute easy walk to the rock from the east park entrance parking lot- recommended following the trail and not walking up to the rock along the road.

Went there, hiked, couldn't see anything remotely elephant like. This is a mediocre park but if you do pay to come here there are far better formations.

The Fire Valley State Park is stunning, I was very glad to see this and walk in this amazing landscape but the actual elephant rock is not as big, impressive or even as noticeable as made out in many descriptions and by many photographers. Any photo taken close up means the photographer has broken rules to climb on rocks. The rock itself did not meet any of our expectations but we were all glad to have experienced the park. Take note of all warnings about heat, hydration and fatigue. The air temp alone will burn, nevermind the sun itself!

The Elephant Rock is located at the east end of the state park. It has a trail loop, but if you just want to see the rock, which really does resemble an elephant, you can skip the loop and go to other trails at Mouse's Tank or White Domes. This is more likely a quick stop inside the park taking 10-15 minutes. The road runs right next to the rock, so be careful of cars coming into the park if you decide to go see the left side of the Elephant Rock.

The park has so many great rock formations , but this is still my favorite . Parking is adjacent to the east park entrance . It is just a short walk over . We weren't sure exactly where the trail ended so we stayed close to the road and once we saw it we scrambled up to get a closer look . Mid March was a perfect time as there were a few wildflowers blooming to add color to the photos . I like to get a few shots from either side because looking down to the formation it's difficult to not get the road in the frame .

You can see it directly from the road, but they prevent you from stopping in your car to take a 30-second look at it which is probably not worth your time compared to everything else in the park.
