Designated a National Scenic River, this is such a peaceful place. I hear that it can get pretty busy on the week-end though; we went on a week-day. Lots of birds to see, even a bald eagle perched upon the cliff over the river. It was a definite highlight. We kayaked and enjoyed stopping a couple of times along the... More

The cabin is located right on the road to enter Smith Falls State Park from the North. We visited the park during the day when we were not tubing the river. It was a great way to keep the kids active and cool on a very hot day. We stayed in the Oak Cabin. We had 20 people and everyone... More

We have been coming to the niobrara river ranch now for three years. We always get great service and have a blast. Cabins are nice and Lee and his whole staff are always helpful and are easy to get along with

Lee, Kelly and staff were simply amazing. Even better than the amazing customer service, was the beautiful views from the cabins. We had major issues at another lodging facility located south of Valentine. We contacted Niobrara River Ranch and Lee immediately made sure that our trip wasn’t ruined. He met us at the cabin explained the rates, showed us around... More

Just spent a few days at Niobrara River Ranch. I am from Michigan and I have never visited Nebraska before. My best friend from High School has a good friend that owns the ranch and with our two 26 year old daughters we made our annual pilgrimage there. We stayed at Walnut cabin which has gorgeous views, new appliances, several big... More

Visited Nebraska many time over the decades and somehow missed this gem.We stopped in the visitor's censer and headed off with a plan to camp the night. Within the first 30 minutes of exploring some of the roads a heard of elk and buffalo were spotted and observed. A visit to Smith Falls and the river were beautiful and my... More

Wow, what a beautiful place to visit (Niobrara). It was a nice campground right on the river, next to a scenic looking bridge, and the bugs were out in force! My family and I had a good time. My kids gave it an 8 on a 10 scale, where I gave it a 5 on a ten scale. The NRR... More

Our stay at the NIobrara River Ranch will go down in our book as one of the best trips we've ever had. The cabins were clean and comfortable with an amazing view of the NIobrara valley where we enjoyed the peace and quiet and wildlife from our back door. We watched elk graze and meander up the ridge in the... More

We canoed the Niobrara River this past month. We rented a canoe from Little Outlaw in Valentine, Nebraska and they also provided the shuttle. This is an easy float for beginners but as you head further downstream there are a few interesting riffles as well. You'd never believe you were in Nebraska, it seems more like the foothills of Colorado... More

Bring aqua shoes. That is the one tip I give. That being said, the trip is pretty scenic, fun and relaxing. Four hours is a good ballpark, only if you don't stop much at all. Plan for 5-6 and pack accordingly. Make sure to stop at Smith falls. It's pretty damn cool.
