My favorite place ever, and will return again and again! I went in August because the bears will be fattening up for hibernation. They were huge!!! There was about 50 bears the day I went. The cubs were climbing the trees, the two year olds were wrestling and the adults were eating....and eating. I didn't know which way to look,... More

Our good friends who live in the area said this was a must side trip. They are only open for a few hours at night so we planned our visit shortly after they open. The bears were everywhere and it really neat to be so close that you could get some great photos. If you are in the area, go... More

We love this place! It's fairly basic--you ride in a bus from the parking facility to the feeding area, then from a platform you watch the bears who are feeding below. It's all volunteers who work there, but they are very friendly and well informed. We got some great pictures of bears in trees close to the viewing platform. Great... More

About 13 miles East on the Nett Lake road turning left from Highway 53. Open from 5 to 8 PM from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Maybe 50 bears and 10 cubs. Nice platform to view from safe and good for a one time visit. Some go more though.

We stopped by to see the place but had no idea what to expect. We saw the signs to honk and scare the bears back in to the trees I thought yea right but when we got there and found out that the bears were loose and we are on the motorcycles Wow. It was amazing we saw 7 to... More

If passing through or you like bears, this is a very nice place to view black bears. Takes about 1-1/2 hours. We saw over 50 black bears on Sept 1, 2013. There is a nice viewing platform so you are out of harms way. It was unknown to us and a very pleasant surprise. We are not huge fans of... More

The Bear sanctuary is well worth the visit. The black bears are so amazing to see in their natural habitat. They are free to come and go as they please as the sanctuary is completely open. Its only the humans that are restricted to an open viewing platform! You arrive at the centre and park up and then are bussed... More

Today was our third time there and we will definitely go back. There were many bears and spring cubs that were so adorable. It is an amazing educational experience for children about bears. I highly recommend this over the other bear place in northern MN.

Been there twice and is the best place ti see and photo black bears. If you can pay the extra and spend the whole day at ground level with these beautiful animals. They come really close. To bad hunters have to shoot them for fun!

I first visited Vince's sanctuary with my daughter in 1997. The platform had been built, but the small parking area was still adjacent to the feeding area. A volunteer met us at our car and escorted us down a path to the viewing area. On the way we passed within a few feet of several bears already dining! Today a... More
