Fall 2020 Trip
Sep 2020 • Couples
Food and facilities were great. However COVID protocols were over the top. Placing an order via online system was overly cumbersome. Hostess was rude and treated us like we had leprosy. Would not go back until COVID is over.

Mt. Bohemia is the best skiing in the Midwest for expert skiers and snowboarders. The mountain offer great terrain and the lodge is perfect for the surroundings.

The HYPE is REAL

Out-West skiing in the UP? Double Black Diamond ski runs in the Midwest?? Come on...so, I drove up there with a buddy and couldn't believe what we found.

Everyone there are serious Skiers, and from all over the world. I would say that it is like "Old World" skiing, but I'm not sure they skied like this in the old World either. You stay in Yurts or small cabins, and meals are provided because there is no lodge or restaurant. The lift doesn't spin until 11AM or later, so you could drive up from a bigger town like Marquette if you needed to. They run two lifts on the weekend and one during the week.

Book your stay early as the accommodations at the mountain sell out quickly, or stay in a nearby town and drive in.

No grooming, it is skiing "as the snow falls", which it does with regularity. We think we know about Lake Effect snow in the Chicago area and SW Michigan, but this is the real deal. Fueled by Lake Superior, this mountain is surrounded on 3 sides by the big Lake, and gets constant Lake Effect and regular snowstorms. Steep tree skiing, and 360 degree skiing from the top, wherever you ski down to, you just wait for the van to pick you up and take you back to the lift.

There is nothing like this place anywhere, check it out.

Amazing Wood Fired Pizza
Aug 2019 • Family
We don't stay at Mt. Bohemia but we stop in for their wood fired pizza at least once during our annual Keweenaw stay. Why? Because it is nothing short of amazing! Crust is perfectly done and toppings are excellent. The owner/manager (not sure which he is) is a gracious host and has always been incredibly kind, even when our toddler has been less than perfectly behaved.... You can sit outside and eat and nothing, and I mean nothing, beats sitting on a deck, feeling that cool air off the hills and from the lake, while eating a perfect pizza. So worth a stop!

We will be back
Aug 2019 • Family
Delightful stay with our small kids. Tried kayaking, mountain biking, hiking- all excellent experiences. Great guides for the excursions... Sarah, Jess, Joey! Probably one of our happiest family vacations — no distractions with screens. Aqua cabins far exceeded our expectations. Beautiful location next to the lake, you wake up every morning in a Pure Michigan commercial. Took the pontoon out and hit up the hot tub/sauna one night. Shout out to Rick the bartender- he took good care of us! Wood fired Pizza is amazing— try the margherita.
All in all, didn’t want to leave, tried to extend our stay but they were booked! See you next year, Bohemia!

What a great spot
Jul 2019 • Family
Found this resort on a internet search. Did the all inclusive aqua cabin with the family. First of the aqua cabin was SPOTLESS! Very clean and great set up. The porch overlooking the lake was relaxing. The meals were perfect. Not gourmet but very good. The bag lunch they pack was perfect for afternoon activities. Their staff was laid back and very friendly. The all inclusive includes so many activities we were busy from sun up to sun set. No cell signal an no TV were great to get the kids off the grid. There is WiFi but we told kids no wifi. I highly recommend this resort.

more like resort and less like a hidden gem
Feb 2019
Very crowded on weekends- a llot of families and kids. Try to go during the week and hit the backside of the mount to see more fresh snow and fewer people. The wind here is intense and it snows less each year. Last season I left 2 ft for fresh snow at home to find maybe a 1ft of packed snow at Bohemia. The owner continues to expand making it feel less like wilderness 'gem'. There clearly seems to be some growing pains, but despite the changes, both staff and visitors are friendly. It is must see if you love to ski!

The BEST back-country skiing, albeit not a Snow God the snow belt blesses this place more often than not. THIS IS RUSTIC if you need a hairdryer and/or shower stay home! The lodging and beds are PLUSH but not luxurious. The breakfast needs bacon and jams, (PLEASE LONIE), the cabins along the lake need better for you drinking water maybe filtered like the "trailside" cabins. VERN is the MAN, if he can't do it, no one can! PS NO BEGINNERS OR WHINERS ALLOWED

Skiing and lodging
Mar 2019 • Solo
For midwestern skiing, MT Bohemia was great fun, provided some decent steep glades and great snow, even though it had not snowed extensively recently. It was cold and the Keweenaw had received 27’ of snow to date.

In my estimation, the cautionary notes and signs regarding the extreme skiing was hyperbole as the double blacks were not terribly steep and the triple blacks were manageable for an expert skier. Having said that, it is not a suitable place for unskilled skiers or beginners.

The Aqua Cabin lodging was comfortable, but lacked kitchen and thus resort provided a meal plan consisting of breakfast and dinner, which fairly could be stated as filler. The meals certainly need more attention and effort by proprietor. He should demand good foods and prepare them well so the food service can be ranked above poor, which is what I would rate the pancakes, sausage, pulled pork, etc.

I like to eat well when on a ski outing so I traveled to Calumet and Copper Harbor to eat decent meals rather than consume the filler in the MT Bohemia meal plan.

Plastic forks and styrofoam cups and plates certain should be replaced with environmentally friendly alternatives in my view as well.
