One of the first places you reach on the park loop road is the Wild Gardens of Acadia. This may not seem like much (and the spring isn’t) but the gardens are beautiful. They are arranged by area of the park and give a good overview of the plant life you will encounter in the park. I was particularly fascinated... More

I love learning about the native plants anywhere I visit. The Wild Gardens of Acadia has a very nice collection of native plants in a pretty setting that includes a small stream. It's a peaceful place to stroll around. The free Island Explorer shuttle bus has a pick-up and drop-off in the Nature Center parking lot at this site. After... More

This garden just looks like a bunch of regular plants. Guess nothing was bloomed. It was cute to walk through though. I would return.

We enjoyed walking through the wild gardens and learning more about the plant life in Maine. I was able to take some beautiful flower photos.

This is a beautiful oasis just off of the Park Loop Road. Highly recommend an hour's visit to explore the gardens. They are arranged by mini-habitat, and labeled signs listing plant names makes the experience fun and educational. We also saw several little critters, including frogs and tadpoles, red squirrels, and birds. The Nature Center and small Abbe museum also... More

We decided to stop in, since it was raining and we didn't want to hike another trail. We were pleasantly surprised. The gardens were well marked and were peaceful. There is a big parking lot and a little visitor's center.

A fantastic way to see all the different plants and flowers of the Acadia National Park. Quite a few surprises because MDI is at the intersection of two climatic zones so gets some southern plants and northern plants. Nicely arranged by habitats. Very helpful self guided tour booklet. Shaded for the most part.

Hello, I traveled from DC to Acadia Natl. Park over peak fall, the weekend of Oct. 17. Fall at Acadia was a week delayed and was peaking whilst I was there. I drove up from Portland. My first real stop after the Hulls Cove Visitor Center and an overlook with views of Frenchman Bay was intact, the Gardens of Acadia.... More

This was my favorite place in the whole park. The boardwalk and nature trails, small hikes and beautiful foliage made it the perfect morning activity before the rain hit.

A wonderful garden that shares diverse wild plant life found in Maine. Broken out into sections, the gentle trail has some benches for you to sit and observe nature or just meditate!
