We decided to stop in, since it was raining and we didn't want to hike another trail. We were pleasantly surprised. The gardens were well marked and were peaceful. There is a big parking lot and a little visitor's center.

A fantastic way to see all the different plants and flowers of the Acadia National Park. Quite a few surprises because MDI is at the intersection of two climatic zones so gets some southern plants and northern plants. Nicely arranged by habitats. Very helpful self guided tour booklet. Shaded for the most part.

Hello, I traveled from DC to Acadia Natl. Park over peak fall, the weekend of Oct. 17. Fall at Acadia was a week delayed and was peaking whilst I was there. I drove up from Portland. My first real stop after the Hulls Cove Visitor Center and an overlook with views of Frenchman Bay was intact, the Gardens of Acadia.... More

This was my favorite place in the whole park. The boardwalk and nature trails, small hikes and beautiful foliage made it the perfect morning activity before the rain hit.

A wonderful garden that shares diverse wild plant life found in Maine. Broken out into sections, the gentle trail has some benches for you to sit and observe nature or just meditate!

First, to appreciate the Wild Gardens of Acadia you have to understand its mission. If you visited the English gardens at Thuya Garden with border beds filled with a profusion of colorful annuals and perennials and tried to compare these two gardens, you may be disappointed. But, if you’re interested to see and learn about the thoughtfully recreated natural plant... More

We saved Sieur de Monts for an overcast day. The Wild Gardens Of Acadia are located in the Sieur de Monts area. Park in the large lot or take the shuttle. This is best viewed early in the morning before the crowds come. We got there about 0800 & easily found a parking place. The Wild Gardens are accessed off... More

If you are interested in being able to name the different flowers and plants in Acadia then this place is for you. If you are not interested in this do not waste your time. They show you what different areas of Acadia have for plants. You will see them all on a hike or hikes within Acadia to something interesting... More

This was our first stop while visiting the park. The small information center has lots of information available and some books on natural history available for purchase. There are clean bathrooms available as well. The gardens are not huge but very pleasant and there are names in many of the plants. In this area there are also some really nice... More
