We spent six incomparable days rafting on the Middle Fork of the Salmon River in Idaho. Middle Fork Adventures was fantastic--the guides made sure our experience was glorious (& I'm comparing to rafting trips I've taken all over North America). The river is wild and scenic, with hot springs, waterfalls and beautiful terrain. The food was outstanding, the campsites were great. It was the most relaxing and rewarding vacation I've had in years. Thanks, MFA!

WOW! What a great river rafting company! The trip was well organized. The guides were knowledgeable, friendly, and so skilled on the river. They put together healthy meals that were over the top 3 times a day. The equipment that we used ( dry bags, sleeping bags & tents ) were in excellent condition and quality made. Overall everything was awesome!

Awesome river experience! Northwest Rafting does an amazing job of giving you a knockout river experience, either on a raft or in a paddle boat or in inflatable kayaks. Your gear is unloaded when you arrive in camp; chairs are set up and the meals are a culinary delight and plenty of food; the tents are easily pitched and the guides will give a hand where needed. The guides also are well versed in the geology and natural history of the river and give presentations and are ready to answer questions. Did I mention the hot springs?!
This was my fifth trip w/ Northwest Rafting and they never fail to amaze me! They also are great w/ taking experienced hard shell kayakers and there are loads of play waves!

Just finished a 6 day trip on the Middle Fork of the Salmon with Northwest Rafting. It was truly an amazing trip. Besides the spectacular scenery, Zach and his guides really made the trip. Not only were they were professional and put our comfort and safety first, they were really awesome people to hang out with. The food was great and there was plenty of good drinks (they even had fancy Scotch!) It really felt like a trip you went on with your friends or family. They all shared great stories about the history of the river. There were kids on the trip and they were really great with them too. I can't recommend this trip or Northwest Rating more. I am definitely going to do another trip with them, probably on the Rouge River but maybe even the trip to Bhutan!

This summer our family, along with 18 of our neighbors including kids ranging in age from 6 to 16, joined the amazing crew of MFRE for a 6day, 5 night ride down the Middle Fork. We had an amazing trip.
The guides did an amazing job engaging the kids and making sure to accommodate their individual needs. They went out of their way to make sure that my 6 year old never got left out. One thing that would be awesome, is to continue to work towards the healthy balance of a relaxing vacation and also getting the kids to chip in. Our crew is a pretty active bunch, and when we don't have a job to do, we can get a little squirrely.
It was a wonderful opportunity to disconnect from technology and reconnect with friends.

I experienced river-rafting and Idaho for the first time last week. What comes to mind? Majestic scenery, fresh mountain air, clear invigorating waters and thrilling rides over a multitude of rapids. The trip is an immersion in nature at its purest and provides the opportunity to peacefully separate from the busy pace of daily life.
The crew is filled with impressive, experienced, talented, personable and ever-so-accommodating individuals. They work HARD so travelers can enjoy completely. These folks are the heart of the experience.
I heartily endorse Middle Fork River Expeditions!

The Middle Fork of the Salmon River is an amazing place -- six days in a wilderness area. Fun rapids, some relaxing smooth stretches, hot springs, great hikes, and spectacular scenery. But what really makes the trip extraordinary is Northwest Rafting Company and its guides. They really work hard to make the experience a truly memorable one. Of course, safety is a priority for them, but they work to make sure everyone is having a great trip.

My wife and I rafted down the Middle Fork of the Salmon River in Idaho. This was a 6-day, 5-night trip; we had a great time! The people associated with NW Rafting we’re professional, safety conscious, warm and friendly. I’d highly recommend NW Rafting and this trip.

Fantastic! Guides are so knowledgeable and accommodating, food was amazing, camping under the stars was better than a tent. Wildlife viewing, hiking, hot spring, so much to see and do. Loved this trip. Highly recommended. While there are a variety of providers, MFRE is my favorite. Leave the world behind and join the Moors and McCumber trip for excellent music as well as rafting.

Fabulous trip with exceptional very experienced guides who made a stunning river experience even better. The food was superb, scenery beyond amazing. Some very nice hikes, peaceful floating down an amazing river, educational experiences from our knowledgeable guides, fun riding rapids and trying out the inflatable "duckies". Just a wonderful, fun outdoor adventure that not too many people will ever get to experience. Couldn't be more pleased. Highly recommend this rafting outfitter.

How rough on the rapids? Is this a float for younger kids? Thanks!

Hello!
The Middle Fork is perfect for kids starting in late June/early July and going thru end of Aug, usually when the kids have to return to school. it is mostly class III rapids by then so nothing too big like in early June. Go to the website for Middle Fork Outfitter Association for more information and to select a qualified outfitter. You can use the calendar function to find an outfitter that has a date that works with your schedule.

I'm trying to decide if I should do a middle fork rafting trip mid-June. I'm concerned about it being too cold. I did the Grand Canyon rafting trip last May and we were freezing the entire trip. Can anyone who has rafted the middle fork in June let me know when and what the air and water temperatures were. Thank you.

We took this trip in August and found it difficult to fall asleep before midnight. The rock walls absorb daytime solar energy and radiates heat well into the night.

Thanks for contacting us in regards to our river trip on the Middle Fork of the Salmon. It is a perfect trip for multi generation families. In late Aug , the water levels are low which makes it for an easy ride with lots of opportunities for swimming, floating and fishing.
We have an open trip on Aug 18-23 that we can run for your family as a private trip.
Feel free to give me a call if you want more details on this one of a kind adventure.
Best regards,
Danilo

Hi, can you tell me which outfitter company you went with? There would be 7 adult family members in our group and given the expense of a trip like this, I want to pick the right company to take care of our trip. Thank you in advance for any insights you have to offer.

Hi,
My name is James and I own Middle Fork River Expeditions so I am biased in my opinion. We are mostly sold out for July 2015, but still have space in June and August if interested. If you want a list of all outfitters you can go to Middle Fork Outfitters Association website.
I hope this helps you.
Best, James
