Scenic and Cool Toccoa River
Jul 2015 • Friends
The Toccoa is a classic must-see while visiting the Blue Ridge area. It is off Aska Road. Many come here to go tubing down the river, which is offered by several companies. Twin Branch Falls is very near (turn at the Toccoa Riverside Restaurant, although you'll need exact directions from online). Check out the iron Shallowford Bridge across the river. There are several small places to park where you can access the river. Carefully walking across the rocks in the river and finding a spot to sit while the water surges around you is magical and relaxing. Proof that you don't have to spend money to have a good time in the area. A welcome respite in the heat of summer; it can get surprisingly hot in the mountains!

Water everywhere supplying power and drinking water to Georgia.
May 2015
Beautiful pristine river giving us so much more that a wonderful place to hike or have a picnic beside, fly fish, tube, raft, canoe, or kayak. It still provides a huge amount of electricity to a large portion of Georgia and drinking water. And it is still giving her bountiful, beautiful resources to us.

The Rapids On Toccoa a/k/a Party Rock a/k/a Aska Road Rapids Are BACK
Jun 2015 • Family
The Rapids on the Toccoa have been a source of family fun and adventure for decades. The Rapids were closed to the public for a number of years due to a dispute in ownership. A recent Georgia Court of Appeals decision has affirmed that the rapids are in fact public property. Bring your own tube or kayak or rent from a local vendor and float the river. Sitting on the rocks or the river's edge is also a wonderful way to enjoy the beauty of the area.

Beautiful, scenic area
The river is beautiful and Aska Road ruins right along side of it. There are plenty of good restaurants and places to stay in Blue Ridge, GA. Well worth the trip to see and a great place for canoeing, rafting, tubing, or riding motorcycles.

nice natural view

Nice to watch the water go by and feel the natural surroundings. Great to canoe, or certain places to put your feet in.

Toccoa River Suspension Bridge
Sep 2014 • Friends
A group consisting of adults and children made the hike off of 816 (gravel road) down to the suspension bridge and camped on the river banks overnight. There are no facilities, but the area was beautiful and the hiking was great! Lots of flat areas suitable for pitching a tent and building a campfire. Great area if you really want to "get away from it all" and don't mind primitive conditions. The camping areas are first come - first serve. The path to the bridge (about 0.25 miles) is narrow in places and has sections that are rutted with tree roots and/or a bit steep. Most people will be able to easily do the walk, though. ENJOY!

Memorial Day weekend
We fished Lake Blue Ridge with a boat we rented at Young Harris Water Sports in Young Harris. That is an awesome rental shop. Caught several bass, a few keepers. Went fishing on the Toccoa river, caught a few trout. Serenity Gardens is the place to eat in Blue Ridge. Awesome.

Great river for tubeing
Jul 2013 • Friends
I went the week before the 4th of July and the water was great for tubing. I would highly recommend this river to all the tubers out there. The 3 days we tubed, the river was higher than the last time I was on it a year ago, and it was perfect and not very crowded for such a great float.

Beautiful and serene
The Toccoa is know for its white water (in TN) and trout fishing. This is a beautiful river that is kept clean by area residents. In summer tubing is great but we come here to fish. There are two sections - above and below the dam. Below the dam is subject to daily releases and limits fishing time but waters are cooler and fishing typically better. Above the dam is a bit more wild but watch temps as trout like it cold.

Make sure you take time to explore some of the side creeks and falls. They make for great fishing too.
