Should have done anything else. Train was 90 plus minutes late. Mechanical failure. Initially it was beautiful. Then the brand new engine on the 777 trip broke down and died. Waited almost two hours to hear that we were being put on the next train....More

Dear tourists, I use Amtrak Surfliner to commute to work from Los Angeles to Orange County and avoid traffic. Yes, the ride down the cost if you’re going to San Diego or Disneyland is lovely and scenic. But just know that if you’re on a...More

Hi Denise - Regarding Burbank, parking is available unfortunately I do not know the cost but from my experience most Amtrak stations offer very affordable prices. As a reference I would suggest you visit their website.

My departure station is Los Angeles Union Station. Don't know about departures from Burbank. Check with Amtrak cust svc. They are very helpful, even for senior like me.

Six Flags question (6 Replies)
Hello, next week we will be in San Diego and will be taking the Pacific Surfliner up to LA for a day trip where some of our crew will be spending the day at Six Flags Magic Mountain. What would be the best train station for us to get off the train, to catch an Uber up to Six Flags? And will it be a problem to get an Uber back to LA from Six Flags, at the end of the day?

Burbank Station would possibly be the close than any other PacSurf station. Burbank station is right next to Interstate 5 and Six Flags is just off I-5 Then you can catch a Lift or Uber from the station. The other Amtrak stations from that point are Van Nuys, Chatsworth, Simi Valley stations but while equal distance, getting to the freeway will take longer. Metrolink goes to Santa Clarita. but not Pac Surf Amtrak

1 night stay at San Diego and heading to Anaheim (9 Replies)
Hi! We will be coming to San Diego this August for a night event and will head to Anaheim Disney Park the following day. Travelling 2 adults and a child. We don't have car and what is the best way to get to Anaheim from San Diego? I read on the forum about Pacific Surfliner, / Amtrak, do we need to book the train in advance to make sure we get a seat?

Hi, Where is your night event?? How old is the child?? I ask because you need to get to the event and if your child is under 8 years old you would need to use a bus unless you have a car seat or booster for your child since in California they are required in taxis and uber/lyft cars. As for the train, you can buy tix before you board. It should not require buying ahead of time.

Amtrak Pacific Surfliner New years day (3 Replies)
Hello I am traveling between San Diego to LA on morning of 1st January NYD. I am wondering if anyone knows if I should expect the train to be busy or be quiet? I will most likely buy business class ticket, but I'm not sure if this guarantees I will have a decent seat to enjoy the views along the way. Thanks in advance for any help.

@jforjenn, Welcome to the forums. I don't have first hand knowledge about the train but I would be very surprised if it was busy on New Years Day. I would imagine that most people would be sleeping in and that locals would not be using the train. Since San Diego downtown is the very first stop I doubt if you would have any trouble at all getting a seat and I'd not pay extra for business to do that.
