Mt. Shasta is spectacular above Shasta Lake as you walk on top of the dam. One hour guided tours are offered 3-4 times a day for those who want to go down into the dam to see its inner workings. It's one of the biggest...More

I went later in the day and missed the last tour. The visit to the Dam was anticlimactic, but my own fault. Not sure what I was expecting, but obviously more than what I got. That being said, I would highly recommend if you are...More

Take the time to drive out to Shasta Dam - it's so full and beautiful now! We went out for a Sunday afternoon drive - looked like the whole town decided to do the same! But it was so worth it! What a beautiful site!

We visited Shasta Dam in February. We took route 151 in. The closer we got to the dam the more glorious the landscape became. Lots of snow covered mountains, endless pines - breathtaking. We started to see the dam in the distance and could see...More

We very much enjoyed our tour at Shasta Dam. Three o-clock, late November....only 4 people on our tour. It would have been harder to hear and get around with a full complement of 40 people. Recommend going to the movie in the visitor center.

Living in Northern California for most of my life and never thought to visit. Finally did and this is amazing. Free guided tour and a great engineering marvel. Discovered my grandfather helped in the construction of the Pitt River spillway. Well worth the visit.

From the visitor center all the way to the opposite end of the dam is about 3/4 mile each way. It's level, with a sidewalk the full distance. We walked from the visitor center to the middle of the dam and back, which is... More
