A great road to drive or bike on with several spots to stop and taken in all the giant trees. One of my favorite roads through a Coastal Redwood forest. Several paths take off from roadside parking spots where one can meander amongst the tallest...More

One of the most beautiful places I've ever seen! The redwoods are unbelievable. We enjoyed every mile, even in the rain.

Felt like we were in a magical place. Breathtaking...one needs to really take their time and drink in the beauty of the majestic trees. Takes your mind off the really twisty turns! Truly worth it...my heart is full.

This is what dreams are made of. Beautiful and majestic Redwoods. Spiritual and Peaceful. There aren't enough words to describe being blanketed between these majestic Giants. The park volunteers were helpful and charming. Get a map of the trails. We went in late fall so...More

I have no clue, we did not do any hiking. But we saw plenty of places indicating Trail Walks. There are 2 small, unmanned Visitors Centres along the way that offer a range of brochures that might be helpful to you.

Didn't see any bike rentals anywhere along the route. Maybe just go a cheap one at Walmart and give it to a local kid when you're done with it.

Just 1 day, feeling overwhelmed (3 Replies)
Hello! I'll be in the Redwood area for the first time with my boyfriend. We'll be coming from Crescent City and staying the night after in Mendocino. I've got the maps, the info, the itinerary.. but I still fell VERY overwhelmed by the amount of things and places to see! We're coming from Italy, not our first time in the States but first time in the area. We're not hiking people, may do a short-easy walk but that's it. We will do the Avenue of the Giants, but besides that, what...More

Just driving peacefully along the Avenue of the Giants will give you a good sense of the redwoods. But if you want to get out and walk around a little bit, I suggest Patrick's Point State Park just north of Trinidad. If you would like to walk on the beach, drive on down into Trinidad where there is easy access. There are many beautiful spots on that drive; you'd be safe in choosing any of them. Jedediah Smith State Park might be the most famous along with Lady Bird Johnson Grove - you can...More

You could easily spend 8 days in each of those areas, so it will be a tough choice deciding to continue into OR. Are you visiting SF? What are your interests & when is your trip.

Rode trip to San Francisco from Seattle 10 day total trip (1 Reply)
Hi, My huband, daughter and I are trying to plan a rode trip to San Francisco from Seattle, we are leaving June 22 and will be returning to Seattle July 5th or 6th. Please help us with a suggested route along hwy 101, with what to see, where to stay and where to eat. We are within a budget so family friendly and cheap rates/prices apply. We will be doing some tent camping along the way, but will also stay in affordable motels/hotels. We know we will be traveling along hwy 101 and we...More
