This Campground is like being in two places..The mountains and the Beach...Your campsite is in the trees..Lots of shade, just like in the mountains...You take a short walk,100 yards on a paved trail and your on the beach...The sites are big and a lot of them are private, separated from others...Its very quiet..About 2 or 3 times a day you... We've been coming here for years and enjoy this campground for its proximity to the beach, town, and wine country; relatively plentiful sites with trees, views, and/or some modicum of privacy; and amenities (eg, coin operated showers). This was a quieter trip than some, which we appreciated. The ranger even asked us to turn off our extremely quiet little radio... More

Went camping here the other weekend and had a great time. The campsites are of good size and water and bathroom/showers are close walking distance. We were in a nice site close to the main road that takes you through the camp. There is a sidewalk to get you down to the beach and a day lot so you can... More

OK, my Best Man has been trying to get me and my wife to go to El Cap for 3 years now and we finally made it. I had been avoiding going because I am not a big fan of camping next to large groups of people and have grown intolerant of inconsiderate people that don't realize that there is... More

We stayed in August 2016 in camp sites 29, 30, 33, and 36, which are all within view of the water. Weather was perfect - mid to high 70s. 33 and 36 have some nice mature trees that provide shade throughout the day. We were also right across from the walking path that takes you down to the beach and... More

Had so much fun for 2 days and 2 nights here. We camped with out two 5 and 8 year old kids who had an absolute blast. Decent spots for camping and with quick beach access down the cliff. The beach is perfect for young kids with a very gentle gradient into the sea and waves which were good for... More

We have camped twice at el capitan with a group of 60 persons. The group sites are spacious and can fit big groups. Hot coin showers are available which is a plus. The restrooms are not cleaned often enough, that's the down side. Also, if you are a light sleeper, the train whistle might wake you up at early morning... More

This is a state beach campground with many RV sites (I think all of them are no-hook up) and camping. Very good bathrooms. Super kid-friendly with lots of family action / grilling when we were there. Some sites on the campground overlook the beach, but not all. It's too expensive for no hook up (I think it was 45$), beach... More

Pros: beautiful wooded tent sites and spots for smaller RV's within the four camping loops. If you're lucky, you'll get a spot with ocean views. Great bicycling and hiking along the bluff trails. Secluded picnic spot with tables right along the ocean. Group camping spots at the upper bluff area that looked great. If you're group camping, they'll even open... More

The camping grounds is ok, just don't reserve one one the east side if possible. Our site was approximately 100 yards from the highway, making it noisy throughout the day and night. Try to get closer to the ocean. The site are free of highway noise and the views are fantastic. The nature trail is nice 30min-1hr walk, and is... More
