Nice Drive at Lake Tahoe - Nevada Side
Sep 2020
We took a nice drive on the East Side of Lake Tahoe. This is the Nevada side, We drove up Kingsbury Grade to get there and drove down Mt, Rose Highway.

The lake was pretty, We also stopped for a bit at Cave Rock.

I won't be back.
Aug 2020
I live in Sacramento, and against my better judgment I went up to Lake Tahoe about a month ago to escape the smoke from the fires. I have to say that it lived up to my expectations as a tourist trap. I got caught in a CHP speed trap in an undeveloped area between Meyers and South Lake Tahoe going 52 mph in a 40 zone--at least the cop didn't pad the ticket. He followed me for about a mile before pulling me over to see if he could get me for another infraction. I came to a complete stop at a stop sign and counted to 3 before continuing to make sure I wouldn't get a second ticket, and then the cop pulled me over. The copy of the ticket I was given did not have current instructions on how to pay for it, and I was informed that I would *not* be notified my mail. The cop scribbled the name of a website on the ticket (only barely legible on my carbon copy) and informed me that it was my responsibility to check the website after a month to get payment information (amount, where to mail it, etc.). If I forgot, the amount would double and then I *would* be informed by mail--a clever system for sucking more blood. There aren't any speed traps where I live, so it was particularly irritating to get caught in one while on a pleasure trip. Doing some research, I discovered that Lake Tahoe and its environs is wall-to-wall speed traps. The city of South Lake Tahoe has at least a dozen, and Meyers about half that, and that's just one small part of the lake. The city and county get a piece of the revenue pie for each traffic ticket given, and I'm sure they make millions off of unsuspecting tourists every year. Just one more reminder that when you go to a major tourist area like Lake Tahoe you're only one thing--a wallet.

Looks good on paper

It is a beautiful lake in a beautiful setting, but you are unlikely to see much of it. You will spend most of your time stuck in traffic and searching for a parking space. If you do, by some lucky break, find a parking place, there won’t be any space on the beach unless you arrive around 6 am. Good luck.

Came to boat, got the cold shoulder
Jun 2020 • Family
You have to get a tahoe inspection to put your boat in the water. But wait, unless you are a local, you cannot get an inspection until July 1st-5th. After the 5th they are closing back to locals only!!!?? So unless you are a local no boats!!! Basically the states are going to open the inspection areas for a few days during their busiest time of the year to take $100 from every sad sap they can squeeze through the check points. Don't participate in this ridiculous scheme. For the government officials that decided this was a good plan👏 you all should be ashamed of yourselves!!! Oh, and no fireworks, so???? Why go!!!

Breathtaking
Jan 2020 • Couples
My Boyfriend has a ski pass, so we go here often. This is definitely my second favorite place in the United States at the moment. It's so beautiful, quiet, and fresh. I could sit next to the lake for hours and enjoy the sounds of nature. But then again, I enjoy going downtown and hanging around where the people are so friendly. Definitely a place to consider for a weekend getaway.

Lake Tahoe Visit is a Must when in Reno
Oct 2019
My latest visit at Lake Tahoe was the 3rd for me . The two visits were just a stay mostly in the Hotel as I had to travel with "tire chain" . The lake was very much appreciated then, at the hotel balcony with very few short walk to Restaurants. However this October 2019 the visit to Lake Tahoe were more enjoyable having based at Sparks , Reno's "Thunderbird Hotel" . We visited some Tourists Spots like the "Emerald Bay" and the site of the Olympic and places around the Lake and took several photos . We left Lake Tahoe area after having lunch at the "Riva Grill". Again , this trip to Lake Tahoe with good weather make another vacation day pleasant and enjoyable.,

Amazing and personal photo tour
Jan 2020
This was one of the best photo tours I've been in. Jim, who teaches photography at the local college, was an expert teacher. Not only did he show us some of the most amazing sites to photograph, but he was also incredibly helpful with camera settings. And with a background in geology, he was also so informative.

I learned so much about Tahoe geologically and historically. I'll be sure to return in the spring. Gloria

Lake Tahoe very very poor on service!!

Lake Tahoe is all about lines. You have to make a huge line to ride the gondola, another to buy lunch, another to get down the gondola, another to hire private lessons, etc. Is all about lines!
If you like to make lines, lake Tahoe is your place.

One of my favorite places in the world❤️
Oct 2019 • Couples
One of the first places I’ve been to since I got here in the US. I got engaged here and decided to elope here too. I’m very blessed to be living 2hrs away from a paradise like this.

FUN FACT:
The water in Lake Tahoe is 99.994% pure, making it one of the purest large lakes in the world. For comparison, commercially distilled water is 99.998% pure. Tahoe contains roughly 60 parts per million of dissolved matter.
