Another excellent viewing point, with ample parking and facilities. A superb vista, different to Maher Point, as it gives you a view of the plateau and plains beyond the Grand Canyon as well as a refreshingly different aspect of the canyon and Colorado River too. Well worth a stop, even if just for photography.

Mary Colter designed this 1932 structure, located about 20 miles from Grand Canyon Village. It resembles an ancient dwelling and has terrific views of the canyon. The Native American murals in the tower have recently been restored and the tacky gift shop has been moved to a separate building near the parking lot. A marvel.

We came in this direction (89 instead of 180) and it was a GREAT way to go. Very few people coming in. Lots of great places to keep stopping and looking with people there, for sure, but not the kind of crowds as coming in the main entrance. The tower itself offered terrific views. Grand Canyon spring water taps to... More

This was my first visit to the Grand Canyon. We watched the sunset right by the watch tower. Amazing!

Traveled Feb 2014 - Lots of steps inside as you go up - no elevator! Each level has it's own perspective. Nice gift shop - we bought some nice posters!

Breath taking!! My best advice is to be patient with fellow visitors, most are from all over the world and some folks can have rude behaviors like cutting in line when everyone waiting patiently to stand on a special rock with the beautiful back drop of the GC in the back.

This building which looks so old was in fact built and opened to attract tourists in the 1930's. It is still doing the same today. It was designed and build by Mary Colter of Harvey Restaurants. The interior is rightly a national monument and the views are amazing. Well worth a visit.

We were surprised by the beauty of this tower, and the Native American art embodied in it. The tower was designed by Mary Colter, and she went to great lengths to preserve a sense of place in designing it. The views as well make this a good place to stop. A good learning opportunity for children as well.

Most views of the Grand Canyon are spectacular and each, I'm sure, has it's uniqueness. The view from the Watchtower is no different and offers another great opportunity to see the beauty of the Grand Canyon. There is an added bonus of soem history as well so all in all it's a very worthwhile stop.
