It's about $10 to get into the park, but you need a taxi or ride to get from the city. Nice walking trails with interesting scenery and a little ‘cave’ to walk through at the beginning (do bring a flashlight or turn on your phone as it can get slippery and you need to walk where you are walking). The trip down to the waterfall is extremely steep and you need to watch every step you take. Do wear sturdy shoes – no flip-flops. It is difficult – so go slow up and down. At the falls, it is very rocky and slippery. The water was freezing (to me), so I barely got up to my knees, but some people did go swimming. Surprisingly, there is actually a lifeguard on duty. The waterfall is nice – but not exactly spectacular. Lots of horse droppings along the trails, so watch where you walk. There was a small farm at the beginning where we could purchase coffee for $1. The entire trip will take most of the day.

My wife and I visited the Parque El Cubano as a half day trip from Trinidad.

To get there we hired a private taxi. The cost was 35 USD for a round trip which I thought was quite expensive given its proximity to the town. I must acknowledge however that after the highway turn off the road is dirt and in terrible condition, which would be a concern given the age of most of the cars people drive in Cuba. This terrible dirt road lasted probably about 5km before getting to the entrance to the park.

Once at the Parque we were charged 10 USD each to do the hike. Once again, I thought this was a little steep as we are now at 55 USD for two. When you purchase your entry they will give you a ticket. Make sure you hold onto this as a man at the waterfall will ask for it.

The path was very clearly marked and easy to follow. I note some previous reviewers were offered the services of a guide for the hike - I would agree that this is totally unnecessary. The path was flat with little elevation and easy to navigate. It took us 40 minutes one way to get to the waterfall which I ranked as better than El Nicho.

There is a small area at the waterfall where you can get changed but it is literally a couple of garbage bags tied around a tree and offers little privacy.

Upon leaving I was charged 300 CUP for 2 mango juices which demonstrated the overpriced nature of this place. The bloke set me up to overcharge as he wouldn’t give me a menu and suggested I try the juice.

Overall a decent attraction but suffers from gringo pricing.

ATTENTION: read this if you intend to visit the Parque el Cubano and especially the waterfall Salto de Javira by Horse trip. We did that and an „Agency“ betrayed us: first off, they brought us to Pilon Waterfall which is a bad joke (in February anyway) compared to Javira and secondly they charged us 10 cuc for the park fee. But since at the pilon is no park there is actually no fee. So please be careful when checking out the riding trip.

Our tour guide took several of us on this hike. Very nice hike with a couple of rocky/hilly climbs. Crossed the stream two times by holding onto a cable while walking on the rocks. Our guide pointed out several species of birds, including the Cuban national bird. If you go, go EARLY. This place becomes a traffic jam later in the day.

Spent the morning here as part of our tour. We had the use of a knowlegeable local guide, who pointed out the local flora and fauna. Over a rope bridge, following a river, sometimes the path is smooth and flat, other times climbing up some gentle rocky hills, around 4-5 kilometres each way. Stopped in an isolated farmers hut midway for a cup of brew. The destination is a waterfall, rockpool and the chance to do a spot of swimming before heading back. Very enjoyable easy paced ramble through some delightful countryside. On return to the start, we had a buffet style lunch, with some very sweet coffee.

Wonderful park! You can hike on your own here. And my advice would be to hike without a guide. You can go at your own pace, admire the beautiful nature and relax. I went with my sister. The path was clear and there is really no chance of getting lost. 😌🌴

We booked a guide from our hotel - Memories - very friendly taxi driver and very knowledgable guide. Learnt a lot about Cuban history and how it has affected the fauna and flora. Nice touch to visit the coffee house and swim in the water fall.
Don't forget mosquito repellent tho! - There weren't too many but...

Love the little swing bridge. A few kms of walking trails. Very peaceful. It's a great bike ride or scooter ride to get there. Although we saw a few small buses in the parking lot. Very nice.

I recently visited as part of a tour group. The falls are surprisingly close to Trinidad. Cheap in price to attain entry to the park. From the car park you set off and walk for about 20-45 mins and you then arrive at the falls. The falls are running. It is easy to swim out into the caves and over to the waterfall. Then a walk back to the car park and all is over. Pack plenty of water and some snacks.

We paid $10 Cuc to enter the park at the restaurant shop/bar. Despite that we know everything has a price we are still unsure who the money goes to. It is a very easy walk with some interesting things like a big wasp net and an old traditional country house. You can visit the house if you wish and drink a traditional herbal tea (infusion) which is good for inflammation, circulation, digestion and more... health matters so give it a go. You can give the owner of the house from .10 to 25 cents. Although he is just happy with your visit we wanted to contribute. The waterfall is great with beautiful blue sky water it is 9 meters deep. An awesome experience definitely worth the effort this place is not to missed.
