Music to drink by
Dec 2019
This is a traditional music venue which seems to predate the tourist invasion. It had a five-piece son band when I was there, followed by a santeria performance. I was nursing a hangover but the fruit drinks are excellent!

Salsa the night away
Oct 2019 • Friends
Man oh man I had so much fun learning how to salsa dance here.

Our instructor was easy to follow, so by the end of the lesson we were able to do a proper salsa.

There is a bar serving mojito's so during a break to catch our breath it was a welcome relief!

Best Guacamole and private concert
Jul 2019
Nice bar with good mojitos and awesome guacamole! We got a private concert with typical cuban music.

Fabulous rumba venue
Feb 2019 • Couples
We went to see one of the rumba shows in this fabulous, no-nonsense place. There is nothing fancy about it, a very simple, even stark hall, but the dancing and the music is fantastic, and the vibes are incredible.
Entry fee is a paltry CUC1, it's always packed in the evenings, drinks are cheap, and it's definitely worth going to listen to the music, see the dancing, and to see tourists and locals alike having a great time.

Terrific revolving acts
Dec 2018 • Couples
Love Rumba? Its all here on an open patio grooving to Trov, the trad poetic singing and salsa. Action starts @ 11.00pm when the rumba drumming begins with the soulful Afro- Cuban rhythmic moves. Its live and the acts change without great ceremony. Remember tipping is not painful. Its your duty.

Find me here and great Afro Cuban music
Jun 2018 • Solo
I spend a lot of time at Palenque, all my friends and musical buddies hang out here too, you'll find great music, great vibes, and a cool chill atmosphere day or eve to see some of Trinidad's best afro cuban drumming and salsa. I am the author of the breath of cuba, and I hang here because it's got the real cuba vibe still flowing.

Whilst not the most atmospheric - top quality music
Apr 2018 • Friends
I’d strolled past the Palenque various times and had read about what a great music venue it is in various travel guides but with no performances on it is a stark, uninspiring room. However it comes alive in the evening and whilst it lacks the Cuban rustic vibe the performance was incredible and definitely worth a visit if you are a music buff.

A very real experience even with the rain
Feb 2018 • Couples
We spent a lively evening here listening to a fusion band of musicians. The bar drinks menu is eccentric to put it mildly but it didn't seem to matter especially given the low prices. The icing on the cake was us practising our Salsa moves on the cobble terrace in the rain!

Absolutely fantastic
Dec 2017 • Family
I spent 3 evenings in the place, having drinks and listening to great bands playing until late at night. This is an exclusive place if you like music and live entertainment.
